Boy
The Fleets Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side.
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling,
It's you, it's you must go and I must bide.

But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow,
It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow,
Oh, Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so!

But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying,
If I am dead, as dead I well may be,
You'll come and find the place where I am lying,
And kneel and say an Ave there for me.
And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me,
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be,

For you will bend and tell me that you love me,
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me!

Overall Meaning

The song "Danny Boy" is a ballad that speaks to the longing and separation that one feels when they must part from the one they love. The singer is begging Danny to return to her, to seek her out in the meadow or snow, because it is in his presence that she finds happiness. She is heartbroken that she must be the one to stay behind while Danny is off to find his fortune.

The ballad is marked by a great sense of melancholy as the singer looks forward to the day when even death cannot keep her and Danny apart. It is a powerful and touching meditation on the power of love, loss, and reunion.

One of the unique aspects of the song is its origins. "Danny Boy" was first written as a song titled "Londonderry Air" by an unknown composer, and the lyrics were later added by Frederic Weatherly. This makes it a rare example of a song where the lyrics were not necessarily intended to fit the melody - instead, they were added afterwards. There are many theories as to the origin and meaning of the song, but none can be definitively proved.

Another interesting aspect of the song is its continued popularity - it is one of the most famous Irish songs of all time, and has been covered by countless different artists, from Elvis Presley to Sinead O'Connor. It has become an almost ubiquitous part of Irish culture, and is often associated with St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

Love you Larry and band members

Regardless of where you derive your sense of strength, hope, and spirituality from, country music newcomer Larry Fleet’s newest release will leave you awestruck with its thought-provoking lyrics and sublime vocals. “Where I Find God” is sure to put Fleet on the map.

The new single focuses on how a higher power can come and save you or redirect your path during unexpected times. Fleet’s delivery of the lyrics is both emotive and soulful while showing fans how much the songs rings true for him. The song takes on an even bigger meaning, during this time in society, where uncertainty and need for something to believe in is felt on a macro level by humans around the world.

“From a barstool to that Evinrude / Sunday morning in a church pew / In a deer stand or a hayfield / An interstate back to Nashville. In a Chevrolet with the windows down / Me and Him just ridin’ round / Sometimes whether I’m looking for Him or not / That’s where I find God”

“Where I Find God” features unmatched honesty, and the song should resonate with both true-blue country fans and music fans in general. It uniquely depicts all the times in his life where his God has had his back, regardless of how bad or a good the situation was. With a style similar to Chris Stapleton and a Willie Nelson influence, Fleet is the real deal and proves it with the premiere of this new song. ❤❤

@motordead4353

I'm an addict and have been since I was 18. That was 2007. In my active addiction, I was completely out of control. I was selfish, dishonest, lustful, lazy, prideful, the list goes on.

Three years ago my son was taken from me. Then my partner of ten years died six months later.

My whole life I've been nothing but sinful. I tried to lie to myself and told myself I was a victim of circumstances. I always believed that I was not worth saving.

Last week, I cried out to God, my higher power, to save me. I thought about all the dirty, rotten things that I have done, all the sins in which I was ashamed. The pain was almost too much to bear.

I then accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior, and I believed in him, with my heart.

Five days ago, after hitting almost a year sober, I was stressed beyond belief. I may have stopped doing drugs, but I still smoke cigarettes. I've been smoking for almost 15 years. I started to smoke, and then, from somewhere, I heard a voice that said "You don't need it anymore.....you are FREE"

I was terrified. I didn't know what was happening. I heard that voice and threw the smoke on the ground. I kept hearing this voice, talking directly to me, and then I realized that GOD has heard my prayer, and so did JESUS.
My emotions were so high I could not stop crying. I HAD BEEN SAVED!!!

It was then that I started to understand. I forgave myself, and asked God to forgive me as well.
I knew I had to love myself, and for the first time in my life, I did just that. I went home to meditate, and as I was laying down my spirit became aware of my Divine Creator, and the glory of ALL his creations. My spirit travelled across space, time and dimensions. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced.

All of a sudden, things were happening to me, and I was protected by the angels which surrounded me. I couldn't believe it. Why me? Why was I worthy of God's love and salvation?

The next day, I started to receive messages from Him. Things that seemed random, but this was no longer a coincidence.

THIS WAS DIVINE INTERVENTION.
GOD SAVED ME BECAUSE I CALLED OUT TO HIM. BECAUSE HE LOVES EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT HAS EVER BEEN. HIS LOVE IS SO GREAT, AND WE NEED TO LOVE EACH OTHER.

I had to love myself before I could love another human being. I felt so different, like it wasn't even happening, like a dream.
I was so grateful, and after 33 years, I AM ALIVE.
I AM NO LONGER JUST SURVIVING.
I AM LIVING!
LIVING IN MOMENT!!

I started to follow where he took me. I realized that my purpose, and ALL of our purpose as the human race, is to LOVe one another, LOVE ourselves, and LOVE our Creator and His son, Christ. Our job in this life is to HELP one another, and to experience life the way He intended....Pure Bliss....Heaven on Earth. To feel it all.

WE NEED TO STOP HATING EACH OTHER. WE NEED TO START LOVING. BECAUSE LOVE CONQUERS ALL.

[LYRICS]

The night I hit rock bottom, sittin' on an old barstool
He paid my tab and put me in a cab, when he didn't have to
But he could see I was hurtin', oh, I wish I'd got his name
'Cause I didn't feel worth savin', but he saved me just the same

The day out on the water when the fish just wouldn't bite
I put my pole down, I floated around, was just so quiet
And I could hear my old man sayin' "Son, just be still
'Cause you can't find peace like this in a bottle or a pill"

From a bar stool to that Evinrude
Sunday mornin' in a church pew
In a deer stand or a hay field
An interstate back to Nashville
In a Chevrolet with the windows down
Me and him just ridin' around
Sometimes, whether I'm lookin' for Him or not
That's where I find god

Sometimes late at night, I lie there and listen
To the sound of her heart beatin'
And the song the crickets are singin'
And I don't know what they're sayin'
But it sounds like a hymn to me
Naw, I ain't too good at prayin'
But thanks for everything

From a bar stool, to that Evinrude
Sunday mornin' in a church pew
In a deer stand or a hay field
An interstate back to Nashville
In a Chevrolet with the windows down
Me and him just ridin' around
Sometimes, whether I'm lookin' for Him or not
And that's where I find god

From a bar stool, to that Evinrude
Sunday mornin' in a church pew
In a deer stand or a hay field
An interstate back to Nashville
In a Chevrolet with the windows down
Me and him just ridin' around
Talkin', well I do that a lot
Well, I do that a lot
'Cause that's where I find god

My fiancé adored this song. Unfortunately, he passed this past Sunday. He played this for me one night when I was questioning my faith. I'm so thankful for that night, this song, him, his love, and his unwavering faith in God.
