1) The Flies was a 60s British psychedelic band formed in London in 1965 best remembered for their debut single, ”(I’m Not Your) Stepping Stone”, which is a hard rock treatment with plenty of crunching fuzz guitar of a number more associated with The Monkees.
Originally known as The Rebs, and then The In-Sect, the group's line-up featured Robin Hunt (lead vocals, drums), Ian Baldwin (bass guitar), George Haywood (lead guitar), Brian Gill (lead guitar) John Da Costa (rhythm guitar, keyboards), and Peter Dunton (drums).
They were notorious for their sometimes outrageous live performances, particularly their appearance at the 14-Hour Technicolour Dream psychedelic festival in April 1967 in London, where they arranged to have hundreds of bags of flour explode and cover the audience at the end of their set.
While they disbanded by the end of 1968, members surfaced in the subsequent British psychedelic/progressive groups Infinity, Please, Bulldog Breed, and T2. In addition, while still in The Flies, singer Robin Hunt recorded a 1967 single for CBS under the pseudonym Alexander Bell.
2) The Flies was a British band fronted by Sean Cook (ex-Spiritualized; ex-Lupine Howl). Cook, who played bass with Spiritualized for eight years before forming and fronting Lupine Howl, also sessioned for Jesus and Mary Chain, Massive Attack and Dr John. During this time he got to know Bob Locke and Tim Norfolk, AKA 'The Insects', who worked with Massive Attack on their 'Protection' album (writing 'Karma Coma' and Eurochild). The band's debut album "All Too Human" was released in 2007.
3) The Flies was an 80s American band from Boston that consisted of Nat Freedberg (lead vocal, guitar), Jay Parham (bass, vocals) and Randall Gibson (drums). They had two releases on Homestead Records: Get Wise, from 1984, includes "All Hung Up," which was released as a single (and was later re-made by the Titanics); and Get Burned, a six-song EP released in 1985. They split up sometime around 1987.
4) The Flies was a 90s American punk rock/pop band from Spokane that released: Venus Man Trap 7" (Trench Records); Teen Challenge 7" (Empty Records); Alternatoid CD (Very Small Records);
5) The Flies was a 60s Australian garage rock band from Melbourne.
6) The Flies was a late-60s American band from California with frontman Larry Norman.

Oh, hey, what's your favorite song
Maybe we could hum along
Well, I think you're smart
You sweet thing
Tell me your name
I'm dying here
Ah-ooh, got you where I want you, oh yeah
Ah-ooh, got you where I want you, oh, yeah
Hey, maybe just a smile
Oh, hey, did you know that I can dance
Could we talk for a while
Well, I think you're smart
You sweet thing
Tell me your sign
I'm dying here
Ah-ooh, got you where I want you, yeah
Ah-ooh, got you where I want you
Where I want you, I want you, yeah
Suffer, suffer
Me don't get no rougher
Rub it up, baby girl, torture me like no other
Suffer, suffer
Me don't get no rougher
When me rock me, baby, put me pain on me, lover
Suffer, suffer
Me don't get no rougher
Rub it up, baby girl, torture me like no other
Suffer, suffer
Me don't get no rougher
When me rock me, baby, put me pain on me, lover
I think you're smart
You sweet thing
Tell me your name
I'm dying here
Ah-ooh (suffer, suffer, me don't get no rougher)
(Rub it up, baby girl, torture me like no other)
Got you where I want you (suffer, suffer, me don't get no rougher)
Yeah, I've got you where I want you (suffer, suffer, me don't get no rougher)
Yeah, I've got you where I want you, want you, want you
Got you where I want you
I've got you where I want you
Got you where I want you
The lyrics to The Flies' song "All I Want" seem to be a playful and flirtatious conversation between two people who have just met. The singer seems to be trying to impress and win over the person they're talking to. They ask about the other person's favorite song, suggest they dance together, and try to find out their name and astrological sign. These lines are combined with the refrain of "Ah-ooh, got you where I want you," which can be interpreted as being either romantic or creepy, depending on how you read it.
The mood of the song changes with the addition of the final verse, which features the repeated lyrics "Suffer, suffer / Me don't get no rougher / Rub it up, baby girl, torture me like no other / When me rock me, baby, put me pain on me, lover." These lyrics add a darker element to the song, as the singer begs to be tortured and hurt by the person they're talking to. It's unclear whether this is meant to be taken literally, or whether it's a fantasy or role-playing scenario.
Overall, the lyrics to "All I Want" are intriguing because they seem to be playing with multiple layers of meaning at once. On the surface, it's a light and flirtatious conversation, but the repeated refrain and final verse add a more complex and possibly sinister dimension. The song is open to interpretation, but one possible reading is that it's about the way we can be drawn to people who we know might not be good for us, and how those relationships can be both desirable and dangerous.
