The Gang That Sang "Heart of My Heart"
The Four Aces Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

"Heart of my heart", I love that melody
"Heart of my heart" brings back a memory
When we were kids on the corner of the street
We were rough and ready guys
But oh, how we could harmonize

"Heart of my heart" meant friends were dearer then
Too bad we had to part
I know a tear would glisten if once more I could listen
To that gang that sang "Heart of my heart"

C'mon now, let's everybody sing!

"Heart of my heart", I love that melody
"Heart of my heart" brings back a memory

When we were kids on the corner of the street
We were rough and ready guys
But oh, how we could harmonize

"Heart of my heart" meant friends were dearer then (do-do-do-do-do)
Too bad we had to part (to part, to part, to part)
I know a tear would glisten if once more I could listen

To that gang that sang "Heart of my heart" (of my heart)
To that gang that sang "Heart of my heart" (of my heart!)

My mom's 95. Just started singing it. She was having a hard time remembering who sang it. It's unbelievable technology. Pulled it up in 10 seconds. Amazing. Made my mom smile and sing along

At age 79 why would this song pop into my head this morning. I haven't thought about it for at least 60 to 70 years. I learned it from my parents' generation. My father did a lot of singing with his brothers. They were excellent.

Reminds me of my Merchant Navy days. Big sing songs crammed into somebody's cabin. Beer flowing and different songs from different people and places. Happy days. Heart of my heart a favorite and here's me at 85 and it pops into my head. I was 23 years old at the time.

My grandfather used to sing this when I was little before he passed away. He had Alzheimer's but he still remembered all his old favorite songs :) This is the first time I've heard the original version.
