They grew up together in Toronto, Ontario, and were members of St. Michael's Choir School, where they learned to sing. The founding members were Corrado "Connie" Codarini, bass; John Bernard "Bernie" Toorish (born 2 March 1931), lead; James F. "Jimmy" Arnold, (4 January 1932-15 June 2004) first tenor; and Frank Busseri, baritone and group manager. Codarini and Toorish had formed a group with two other St. Michael's students, Rudi Maugeri and John Perkins, who were later to become founding members of another group, The Crew-Cuts.

Good song. I have the 45 RPM vinyl. Got it new too in about 1990. I would love to know who the guy was that got up so high to the stratosphere at the end, so I could hear more of him on his own maybe. Not many can reach those heights without going falsetto.

Hello Rachel glad you have the 45 record of this song. My dad when he was living had this on a 78 record. I got to enjoy the Four Lads when he would play it on the old record player that you had to crank it up to play.

Memories, oh memories come back with this song. While the King Brothers got far more air play than the Four Lads In the UK there was lots of heated discussion in the school yard as to who had the better version..the song its self is always worth listening to even today.

On this day in 1958 {March 11th} the Four Lads performed "Put a Light in the Window" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand' Three months earlier on December 9th, 1957 it entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #8 and spent 14 weeks on the Top 100 Sadly, two original members of the quartet have passed away; Connie Codarini at age 80 on April 28th, 2010 and Jimmy Arnold on June 15th, 2004 at the age of 72 R.I.P. Mr. Codarini, Mr. Arnold, and Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}

I was in Navy tech school in Norman Okla when this came out. I really liked it then. Remembering it several years later I tried to find the record and couldnt. Now with youtube I have it back. I wrote one of the members, and he sent me a CD with this song on it and nice note.

I get some rare stuff from there. Stuff that can no longer be recorded at all because of the copyright owner. You can't get them new, but you can get them in mint condition with picture cover. You just pay a bit more, but its worth it. Hope this helps. They only deal in 45RPM vinyls. What else does anybody need?

Corny though this is, it does bring back memories. My wife told me I had to ask her parents for their blessing, after the European tradition. Her kid brother was also there. We got their blessing, though her brother went in his room and sulked, much as I had done when I found out my big sis was marrying.
