The Front Bottoms Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Being in love and women's rights and male hedonism
Worshiping the devil, good vibes all around
And acting cool, and acting cool
And acting cool, and acting cool
And acting cool, and acting cool
Sometimes you gotta close your eyes
And most of us are older now
We should know wrong from right
You and me, me and you
Loving each other the way that we do
I changed my life I was gasping for air
I was leaning forward almost fell outta my chair
And now you're looking suspicious asking is that true
Come on people, would I lie to you
Come on people, would I lie to you
Would I lie to you
(It's just that) sometimes you gotta close your eyes
To truly see the light
(It's just that) most of us are older now
We should know wrong from right
You and me, me and you
Loving each other the way that we do
More like a couple of nights ago
Said nobody knows
Oh I am safe but not for long
Go back a couple of nights ago
Play the usual
So I feel safe to sing along
More like a couple of nights ago
Couple nights ago
Sometimes you gotta close your eyes
To truly see the light
Most of us are older now
We should know wrong from right
You and me, me and you
Loving each other the way that we do
Sometimes you gotta close your eyes
To truly see the light
Most of us are older now
We should know wrong from right
You and me, me and you
Loving each other the way that we do
The song "Motorcycle" by The Front Bottoms is a layered track that combines a variety of themes such as love, rebellion, women's rights, good vibes, and living life on the edge. The song starts with describing the freedom that comes with riding a motorcycle and being part of a gang. The persona in the song is trying to act cool by living a reckless life and embracing the devil.
The chorus of the song sends a different message. The lyrics "Sometimes you gotta close your eyes to truly see the light" suggests that the persona in the song is trying to find their place in the world and make sense of their life. The chorus also hints at the idea that the persona understands that they are now older, and they should know right from wrong. This is a message of self-reflection and the importance of growth.
The last verse speaks to love and the importance of being with someone who makes you feel safe. The lyrics "You and me, me and you, loving each other the way that we do" is a testament to a healthy relationship that is built on love and trust.
Overall, "Motorcycle" is a song that speaks to the complexities of life and how we navigate the world around us. It's a song that speaks to the importance of living life on our terms, but also understanding the value of growth and reflection.
