Over the Rainbow's End
The Gaylads Lyrics

That treating her badly would break her heart
Now that I know, it's too late
The poor girl has gone right out of that gate
She'll fly, yes, she'll fly
Somewhere over the rainbow's end
She'll fly, yes, she'll fly
She used to say there would come a day
When she would walk out and go far far away
I didn't believe, no, it couldn't be true
But now that she's gone, Lord, what am I to do?
Somewhere over the rainbow's end
She'll fly, yes, she'll fly
Somewhere over the rainbow's end
She'll fly, yes, she'll fly
Somewhere over the rainbow's end
She'll fly, yes, she'll fly
Somewhere over the rainbow's end
She'll fly, yes, she'll fly
Somewhere over the rainbow's end
Then she'll fly, yes, she'll fly
Somewhere over the rainbow's end
The Gaylads' song "Over the Rainbow's End" speaks of regret and remorse for not treating someone with the love and respect they deserved. The lyrics lament over not realizing the value of someone until they have left. The first verse is reflective of this feeling of regret, as it acknowledges the singer's understanding that they were mistreating their loved one and how it led to their inevitable departure.
The chorus is a hopeful promise of sorts, that the person who has left will find happiness and fulfillment in their journey ("Somewhere over the rainbow's end, she'll fly, yes, she'll fly"). The singer acknowledges the harsh reality they now face ("Now that I know, it's too late, the poor girl has gone right out the gate"), but they still hold on to a glimmer of hope that their loved one will find joy in their future.
The final verse speaks of how the loved one had previously hinted at their desire to leave, but the singer did not believe it would be true. Now that it has happened, they are left with a deep sense of regret and helplessness ("But now that she's gone, Lord, what am I to do?"). The repetition of the chorus reinforces the idea that the loved one will find happiness away from the singer, despite their regretful actions.

Be thankful. Its been recently noted by Jamaican producers of the late 80s 90s that they stripped down the riddim to just drum and bass cause the vocalists couldn't stay on key.
Which is why there is more melody in the riddims prior to 89. After that, the riddims became more and more basic as the quality of vocalists also diminished.
