Later, as The Getaway, they were signed to Epitaph Records after the label's owner, Brett Gurewitz, heard the song "Ex Marks The Spot" via Punknews.org.

Due to legal reasons (there is a Canadian band with the name The Getaway), they changed their name to Matchbook Romance which they are now known as.

Jeez, I forgot all about this song! Heard it today on GD Channel, 8/1/20, and I remembered how much I liked the acoustic guitar riffing during the outro. The lyrics are cool too. We've all been there.
