Later, as The Getaway, they were signed to Epitaph Records after the label's owner, Brett Gurewitz, heard the song "Ex Marks The Spot" via Punknews.org.

Due to legal reasons (there is a Canadian band with the name The Getaway), they changed their name to Matchbook Romance which they are now known as.

I remember walking into a pierce the veil concert and hearing this and being like 'wow who are these guys'. i was up really close because most people where buying merch or at the bar and it was really amazing hearing them for the first time.
