Kingdom In My Heart
The Glorious Sons Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I don't have the keys, but you can knock down the door
You can build your kingdom in my heart, if you want
Life'll rip us to pieces, and we'll just laugh it off
I used to sleep on benches at night
I used to hide in bars all day
Walk by the water and dream of floating away
I only tell you these things
So you can see the joy that knowing you brings
You can build your kingdom in my heart, if you want
I don't have the keys, but you can knock down the door
You can build your kingdom in my heart, if you want
Life'll rip us to pieces, and we'll just laugh it off
You can build your kingdom in my heart, if you want
I don't have the keys, but you can knock down the door
You can build your kingdom in my heart, if you want
Life'll rip us to pieces, and we'll just laugh it off
You know things nobody else knows
And you're still not scared of me
When I'm shaking, thinking of death
And fighting for breath, you hold me till I can breathe
I never knew that I could have
A friend that I could trust 'til the bitter end
You can build your kingdom in my heart, if you want
I don't have the keys, but you can knock down the door
You can build your kingdom in my heart, if you want
Life'll rip us to pieces, and we'll just laugh it off
You can build your kingdom in my heart, if you want
I don't have the keys, but you can knock down the door
You can build your kingdom in my heart, if you want
Life'll rip us to pieces, and we'll just laugh it off
You can build your kingdom in my heart, if you want
I don't have the keys, but you can knock down the door
You can build your kingdom in my heart, if you want
Life'll rip us to pieces, and we'll just laugh it off
Oh, we can laugh it off
Yeah, we can laugh it off
The lyrics to The Glorious Sons's song "Kingdom In My Heart" are a testament to the power of friendship and love. The singer offers the listener their heart, offering to let them build their own kingdom within it. The lyrics speak to the idea of vulnerability and opening oneself up to another person, even in the face of potential pain and heartbreak. The repeated refrain of "Life'll rip us to pieces, and we'll just laugh it off" suggests a sense of resilience and camaraderie in the face of life's struggles.
The opening lines of the song describe the singer's past struggles with homelessness and addiction, highlighting the immense difficulties they have faced. However, the lyrics suggest that the listener has brought them joy and comfort, giving them a reason to keep pushing forward. The singer speaks highly of the listener, noting that they "know things nobody else knows" and remain unafraid of them, even in their moments of fear and vulnerability.
Overall, "Kingdom In My Heart" is a moving tribute to the power of human connection and the importance of having people in our lives who can support us through even the toughest of times.
