Go Down Moses
The Golden Gate Quartet Lyrics

John Elton
Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me
Elton John & Bernie Taupin

I can't light no more of your darkness
All my pictures seem to fade to black and white
I'm growing tired and time stands still before me
Frozen here on the ladder of my life
Too late to save myself from falling
I took a chance and changed your way of life
But you misread my meaning when I met you
Closed the door and left me blinded by the light

Don't let the sun go down on me
Although I search myself, it's always someone else I see
I'd just allow a fragment of your life to wander free
But losing everything is like the sun going down on me

I can't find the right romantic line
But see me once and see the way I feel
Don't discard me just because you think I mean you harm
But these cuts I have they need love to help them heal

That is SO awesome! They're legends in Gospel music. This is one of the classiest quartets that ever was. They just were such fantastic singers. They're like the Mills Brothers of Gospel. My father was a holiness preacher and he LOVED Golden Gate Quartet because they had some of the finest voices. My father could preach like crazy but he was a horrible singer! LOL! And I mean it. He couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. One Sunday morning he was sitting on the front row in the AM service holding my little nephew who was about 2 years old. He was singing a devotional song and my nephew put his hands over his ears and made a face! It was the funniest thing I had ever seen but I couldn't laugh because I was playing the piano for the service and the old church didn't take to laughing in services. Funny funny.
