3) In 2002, Paul Jarvie and Paolo Mischianti were grade 11 students at Charles Best high school in Coquitlam, British Columbia. Each musical from an early age – Paolo trained in classical piano, guitar and bass and Paul in piano and singing – the two were united by a common love of The Beach Boys, vocal harmony, and girls. After learning a few covers of songs by bands such as The Beach Boys and The Beatles, the pair quickly earned a reputation as two of the more musically talented students in school and were asked by a friend to put together a band to play at a birthday party. Confronted with the problem of finding a guitarist and drummer to complement Paolo’s bass playing and Paul’s singing, the two quickly turned to their friends Danny Blackburn and Mike Jones from Centennial Secondary, who by serendipity happened to be the most talented guitarist and drummer, respectively, in their school. Although competent, the then-cover band bore little resemblance to the eclectically creative group which they would become. Nevertheless, their reception was overwhelmingly positive and soon the four friends were inspired to begin writing their own original music. The diverse range of elements which each brought to the music – layered vocal harmonies, surf guitar-esque riffs, buoyant and energetic bass lines, and reggae-influenced drumming – combined to create the unusual style that distinguishes The Goods from their peers in the music world. “Get Rich Quick Scheme,” The Goods’ entirely self-engineered, mixed and produced EP, was completed in the summer of 2005 after a year and a half of ambitious writing and recording in Mike Jones’s bedroom/studio, and released on a limited scale to an enthusiastic and growing fan base. The Goods are currently writing new material, planning live appearances for Spring/Summer 2006, and will soon have available a new recording featuring new material as well as re-recorded songs from their first album.
4) The Goods is a band formed by Los Angeles based recording artists Lucy Woodward, Holly Palmer & Michelle Lewis. While busy writing, recording and performing their own music, which is heard on iPods, TV, film and on stages around the world, they first came together to sing at at a mutual friend's Christmas party. It was love at first note. They started writing songs together and called themselves The Goods. Their songs are inspired equally by The Andrews Sisters & Lena Dunham's character "Hannah" from the HBO show "Girls". Stylistically rooted in the swing and boogie-woogie era, their lyrics are strictly 21st century. What has emerged in their writing is an everywoman character who despite her best intentions is always getting into some kind of trouble.

Weeks
Around ya round ya
I bet
Round 2 sounds good
River flowin' down to
Bound to
Feel so fine
I gotta find romance
Coz everybody wants to dance
Live it for you
I gotta find romance
Not everybody takes the chance
I gotta find romance
Coz everybody wants to dance
Yeah yeah for you
I gotta find romance
Not everybody takes the chance
Chance.
Fear found ya found ya
Wings around ya baby hold tight
I fell a round 2 sound good
Feeling flown down to spark that fuels this fire
I gotta find romance
Coz everybody wants to dance
Live it for you
I gotta find romance
Not everybody takes the chance
I gotta find romance
Coz everybody wants to dance
Yeah yeah for you
I gotta find romance
Not everybody takes the chance
Chance.
Hypnotics robotic symphonic demonic
to make you feel alright
Hypnotics robotic symphonic demonic
You know you feel this high
Hypnotics robotic symphonic demonic
Do what you feel alright
Hypnotics robotic symphonic demonic
Let the rhythm take control mind
Let's the spirit take control of your mind
I gotta find romance
Coz everybody wants to dance
Live it for you
I gotta find romance
Not everybody takes the chance
I gotta find romance
Coz everybody wants to dance
Yeah yeah for you
I gotta find romance
Not everybody takes the chance
Chance.
Stuck on a vibe let's dance
Fuel to the fire let's dance
Feelin' the vibe let's dance
Feelin' alright last chance
The Goods's song "Last Chance" appears to be centered around the singer's desire for romance, which they connect with the desire to dance. The opening lines suggest that the singer has been searching for someone, and the mention of "round 2" implies that perhaps they have tried to find romance before without success. The river imagery could imply a sense of movement or change - perhaps the singer is tired of being in the same place and wants to move forward towards love.
The chorus reinforces the idea that romance and dancing are intertwined for the singer, and that they feel compelled to pursue love even though not everyone takes the chance. This could suggest a fear of rejection or a sense of standing out, since not everyone may want to prioritize romance in their life.
The final section of the song includes the repetition of the line "Hypnotics robotic symphonic demonic," which adds a new layer of meaning. These words seem to reference the power of music to affect the mind and body - the "demonic" aspect could suggest a sense of being overtaken by the rhythm. The repetition of "let the rhythm take control of your mind" reinforces this idea, as if the singer is promising that dancing to the beat will alleviate any worries or concerns.
Overall, "Last Chance" by The Goods presents a picture of someone who is searching for romance, linking it with music and dancing as a way to connect with others and feel fully alive.
