In 2015 they shared stages with We Are The Ocean, Mallory Knox, Deaf Havana, Sam Duckworth, Verses and loads more, releasing 'Empires' and 'The True Lost Boys' along the way.
So far in 2016, they've been out on tour with Hands Like Houses, and have been releasing a single / month through their fan club, Team TGY.
After putting out three EPs in first year as a band, they're releasing monthly singles in 2016. TGY started with a February double whammy of 'Resolutions' and 'DST', and in March they're releasing 'All She Ever Does'. TGY constantly writing new music, and it feels like a great way to get the songs out there there instead of making people wait ages for for a debut full length record.
In 2017, the band released their official debut studio album, Always Lose. It was received well by critics and landed on many best-of lists at the end of the year.
In 2018, lead vocalist Sam Little was accused of sexual misconduct, and following a statement made by the band, promptly kicked out of The Gospel Youth.

The Gospel Youth Lyrics

'She recites her words with sympathetic treason
As she stands atop a mountain made of steel, she says
I am anxious. I am scared. I am anything but well prepared
And I know just what I want and what I want right now is this
In my soul there is a fire that this body can't contain
Please don't let me burn away, I am meant for something more
Tears run down my face like rivers down a mountain
Curse this agonising frailty that I am
She is beautiful and I am catastrophic
As I reach to her with more than just my hands, I say
I am anxious. I am scared. I am anything but well prepared
And I know just what I want and what I want right now is this
In my soul there is a fire that this body can't contain
Please don't let me burn away, I am meant for something more
The song "Wildfire" by The Gospel Youth tells the story of a person who is struggling with self-doubt and insecurity. The lyrics use vivid images to paint a picture of the inner turmoil that the person is going through. The opening lines, "Spread my legacy like wildfire through a forest," suggest a desire to make a mark on the world and be remembered for something meaningful. However, the next line, "She recites her words with sympathetic treason," implies that the person is hesitant to express themselves fully.
The chorus of the song reflects the person's anxiety and uncertainty. They are aware of their own limitations and feel that they are ill-equipped to deal with the challenges they face. Nevertheless, they are determined to pursue their dreams and make the most of what they have. The line, "In my soul there is a fire that this body can't contain," suggests a deep passion that cannot be contained or ignored. The song ends on a bittersweet note, with the person acknowledging their own flaws while still holding on to hope for the future.
