Worlds Apart
The Gravity Show Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Grant me peace when I sing to you
Come on, come on, come on, come on
You've got to let it flow
I am waiting
You give me hope when I sing to you
It takes my breath
I know if I ever need that spark, you've got the rock and roll
Where did everybody go?
I thought they were with me
I know you are holding all the keys, yeah
I know I am broken, not sure who my friends are

Worlds apart
Worlds apart

Grant me peace when I sing with you
Come on, come on, come on, come on
I've got the rock and roll, I am waiting
If I could catch my breath, I will sing for you
I'm fading now, but if you ever need that spark I'm gonna let it flow
I know I'm wasted, and my heart is broken, but these are good times
I guess I never realised
When I laid down quietly, should have screamed out loud

We are worlds apart
We are worlds apart
Worlds apart
We are worlds apart

Worlds apart
Worlds apart
We are worlds apart
We live worlds apart
Where did the colour go?
Where did my heart go?
I've got to let it flow
I am waiting
Where did my things go?
Where did my eyes go?
You've got the rock and roll
I am waiting
Where did my dreams go?
Where did my love go?
You've got to let it flow
I was only waiting
Where did my love go?
You've got the rock and roll
I was only waiting
Where did our love go?
You've got the rock and roll

You've got to let it flow
You've got to let it flow

Overall Meaning

The Gravity Show's song Worlds Apart is a heartfelt ballad about seeking comfort and hope in a world where everything seems to be falling apart. The lyrics suggest that the singer is lost and alone, not sure who their friends are or where their heart and love have gone. They are seeking solace in music and calling out to someone who can give them the necessary spark to keep going. The repeated line "worlds apart" emphasizes the sense of isolation and disconnection from others.

In the first verse, the singer is asking for peace and hope from the person they are addressing. They feel empowered by the rock and roll and the lyrics suggest that this music can heal and inspire them. In the second verse, the singer realizes that they are alone, and that even among friends they feel worlds apart. But they still have the rock and roll and the power of music to keep them going.

The chorus is repeated several times, and it conveys the feeling of being disconnected from others and from oneself. There seems to be a persistent sense of loss and confusion, but also a steadfast belief in the power of music to save and heal. The repeated questions and statements about where things have gone and the constant references to waiting suggest a longing for something that has been lost or has not yet been found.

Overall, Worlds Apart is a poignant song that captures the sense of isolation and confusion that many people experience in difficult times. The lyrics suggest that music can be a powerful force for healing and connection, even when everything else seems to be falling apart.

My mom passed away last year and was a BIG fan of Daughtry…love Journey just as much (was her last concert before she passed) and she would’ve approved this version 100% hands down. Being a drummer too, I loved what his drummer did here.

The original of this song was a damned masterpiece. There are very few vocalists I'd trust to cover it properly and do it justice.... and somehow two of them did it TOGETHER, and still somehow manage to nail it even live. This is magic.

Naw man, Daughtry is not even in the same league as Steve Perry.

@KaiserSoze679

@@rudybigboote3883 I wasn't comparing Chris to Steve in any way. Even if I had, it would be subjective - so your opinion is fine, but there's nothing objective or definitive about it. What I did say was that the two of them TOGETHER created a version of the song that DID JUSTICE to the original... and if you don't think so, that's cool, you do you. I do, and I imagine Steve himself probably would as well. Why ya gotta be so negative?

absolutely brilliant. I remember when this song was released 40 years ago. This is a great homage to a classic song. Others should take notice- THIS is how to cover a classic!

My first concert was Journey when they released the album this was on, memorable. These 2 do it justice.
