The Hands From Rotterdam:
The Hands are from Rotterdam and they have spend the last five years getting to know each other on a musical level through the means of endless jamming and improvising, which now forms the backbone of all their creations. They now try to move beyond genres and us all their influences to create something that moves people, physically and emotionally.
Think of The Hands as “Grohl-ish” drums supported by a continuous pounding bass flow, topped off with frantic guitar solo's and noises. And you still have no idea what it sounds like. They are now ready to wake up the whole Indie scene and show everyone what more you can do with just drums, a bass and a guitar.
The first demo was recorded in June of 2005.

The Hands from Australia
A band dedicated to vintage instruments and vintage recording techniques, using Hammond organ, Hohner clavinet, Mini Moog, to name a few of our intruments and an array of vintage microphones and tape machines to produce the fattest sounds possible
The brothers Clayton and Lachlan started playing together on the family piano as children in their hometown of Adelaide and soon were working as professional musicians while still at school. Clayton moved to Sydney and joined The Mighty Reapers and began playing with the legendary Jackie Orszaczky who he continued to play with for the next 9 years. Clayton also went on to play and record with Renee Geyer, Billy Thorpe, Kasey Chambers, The Whitlams and many other major acts in Australia before moving to New York. Lachlan then, having moved to Sydney began playing with the Mighty Reapers and started to make his own way up very quickly. Likewise playing and recording with Powderfinger, Jimmy Barnes, Billy Thorpe and others.
Armed with many new songs, Clayton returned from New York and the brothers decided to form their own band. As a consequence, The Hands launched on to the Sydney scene in 2003 and have consistently built a reputation as a ‘must see’ live act as they work their way around Australia.

The Hands Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
With anguish. Trying to tear out my eyes, trying to rip out my tongue.
Redeemer, meet me here. I need an answer. Redeemer, meet me here. I need an
Answer. In this place of decision I thought of You, but turned away. My
Body's aching with terror. Will you still love me now, will you forgive my
Mistakes. Redeemer, meet me here. I need an answer. Redeemer, meet me here.
I need an answer. And in my darkest time You were watching, trying to call
My name. And though I let you down, You were waiting for me to come back
Always waiting... For me to come back home. Though I let you down... Cause
You were always just watching... I can hear you calling. Redeemer, meet me
Here. In my darkest time, You were always waiting. Though I let you down, I
Can hear you calling.
The Hands' song "Resistance" deals with a personal struggle that the narrative is having. The lyrics "I have failed to recover. I am shamed with deceit. My hands are shaking with anguish. Trying to tear out my eyes, trying to rip out my tongue" expresses a feeling of self-hatred and disgust with oneself. The narrative is dealing with some kind of failure that they cannot seem to recover from. The line "trying to tear out my eyes, trying to rip out my tongue" can be interpreted as the inability to face reality or speak the truth. It is an expression of desperation over the situation.
The narrative turns to a higher power for answers by saying "Redeemer, meet me here. I need an answer. Redeemer, meet me here. I need an answer". The narrative is seeking for a solution, and wants answers from a higher power. The next verse "In this place of decision I thought of You, but turned away. My body's aching with terror. Will you still love me now, will you forgive my mistakes?" implies that the singer is fully aware of what they should do, but could not bear to do so out of fear. However, they are still questioning if there is love and forgiveness for them even after what they have done.
Towards the end of the song, the lyrics "And though I let you down, You were waiting for me to come back home. I'm ready. In my darkest time... In my darkest time... You were always waiting... For me to come back home. Though I let you down... Cause You were always just watching... I can hear you calling. Redeemer, meet me Here" shows that the narrative is realizing that they are loved and that they are ready to face reality and come back home. The line "I can hear you calling" represents the realization that the solution was there all along, but they did not listen before.
