Rivers and Roads
The Head and the Heart Lyrics
A year from now we'll all be gone
All our friends will move away
And they're going to better places
But our friends will be gone away
Nothing is as it has been
And I miss your face like Hell
And I guess it's just as well
But I miss your face like Hell
And my family lives in a different state
And if you don't know what to make of this
Then we will not relate
So if you don't know what to make of this
Then we will not relate
Rivers and roads
Rivers and roads
Rivers 'til I reach you
Rivers and roads
Oh rivers and roads
Oh rivers 'til I reach you
Rivers and roads
Rivers and roads
Rivers 'til I reach you
Rivers and roads
Rivers and roads
Rivers 'til I reach you
Rivers and roads
Rivers and roads
Rivers 'til I reach you
Rivers and roads
Rivers and roads
Rivers 'til I reach you
Rivers and roads
Rivers and roads
Rivers 'til I reach you
Rivers and roads
Rivers and roads
Rivers 'til I reach you
Rivers and roads
Rivers and roads
Rivers 'til I reach you

Composed primarily of transplants to the Seattle area, The Head and the Heart write and play songs that speak to the newness of a fresh start, of the ghosts left behind, of moving forward, all brimming with a soulfulness and hope for a better life than the one we've all been sold.
Stylistically, think a folksy Beatles or The Avett Brothers with a little extra oomph. Catchy piano melodies stand side by side with a tight trio of harmonies, and solid minimalist drums, groovin' bass, and plenty of hand percussion and foot stomps make the live show inspiring and really goddamn fun.
After the band self-released its eponymous debut album in June 2010, the emblematic Seattle label Sub Pop re-released the album. For the Sub Pop version, the song “Sounds like Hallelujah” has been re-recorded, live favorite “Rivers and Roads” has been added, and the album has been re-mastered.
The band's second album "Let's Be Still" was released on October 15, 2013.
The band released their third studio album, "Signs of Light", in September 2016.
The band's fourth album, "Living Mirage", was released in May 2019.
Band member Josiah Johnson released his debut solo album, "Every Feeling On a Loop", in September 2020.

My boyfriend had sang this at his father's funeral.
I remember our first date, he talked about his dad like he did his favorite band or TV show. His whole face would light up. He was so proud to have me meet him and his dad was great guy. His dad made me feel like part of the family. Even though I'm shy and tend to keep to myself he would always go out of his way to include me and introduce me to everyone as a family member. Or as "Albert" as he called me.That meant a lot to me.
His passing was sudden and my boyfriend took it hard. When he sang this song for his Dad I think the whole room felt it. We were all covered in goosebumps. It'll always remind me of that day.
It's a beautiful song.
Not long after he moved to out of country. He broke up with me in the process. Needing to escape somewhere else and to go far from here but without any attachments. I understood that even though it hurt.
It's been a year but this song came on the radio today and it reminded me.
I miss the guy. I hope he's found some happiness out there.

That's so bittersweet. Life can be like like that. You will find happiness too. I played this song for my girlfriend and told her my greatest fear was loss. She was my greatest love but things turned out that she doesn't love me. When things get rough you have to look inward for the answers you're looking for. I found that you can't dwell on the past and you can't stress about the present because it gets in the way of your future. My future will be good because I will it to. I am strong and so are you. Every day is a chance for new possibilities and great things. Pay attention because you could strike a diamond.
