I just wanted to point out a few things about covers you may already know but perhaps your viewers don't.

1. Anytime a song is not performed by the writer/copyright holder and not a member of the group/band that did write it or holds the copyrights then it's technically a cover, even if they were the first to perform it.

2. Most copyrights in America and Europe are held by record companies. They will often exploit this to keep songs active as long as possible using multiple musicians.

3. Prince, Tom Petty and Neil Diamond wrote a lot of music for a lot of other artists. Though they are still covers.

4. Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley got Unchained Melody in 1965 for their group the Righteous Brothers as a thank you to Bobby for his years as a production assistant for the Verbe record company. Sadly he co-wrote the song with Hy Zaret who was the main production writer, under his real name but as production assistant he would never get credits for any song he wrote or co-wrote for the record company. Either way Sir Paul McCartney owns the copyrights now as Verbe Records is defunct.

While we’re at it, I wish there were a way to request TCM or MOVIES! or both to run “”Unchained.”

Before Bobby Hatfield, it was the only time we Baby Boomers gout to hear “Unchained Melody.”

I’m guessing it was probably at a DRIVE-IN🎶🥱second-feature.

Elroy “Crazy Legs” Hirsch was a good actor, but in those days there were no special effects.

RIP Elroy😇

@@chrisbennett6236 * 1. Anytime a song IS performed by someone who is not a writer/copyright holder etc

Wording of that had me puzzled, I was like how is it a cover if nobody performed it

Some of these covers didn't even wait for the paint to dry on the originals. 😲
