This song just captures the very essence of The Hobbit and LOTR. Mystery, adventure and the grand scale of the events that take place within the books. The films, although they had deviations, I feel are to be appreciated as a work of art on its own. Really glad at the effort and hard work Peter Jackson put into these films. I will definitely make my children and grandchildren watch these gems of the film industry!

I fuckin love these films I'm just gonna say it. I don't care about the money grabbing or how much they've changed the plot of the book. I think they stand as beautiful, wonderful films, separate of the lotr trilogy, telling a separate story, just as the book did originally. I can't wait for the third one.

i wouldn't say they changed the plot of the book?! as far as i can see they added to it and expounded in the best possible way. if they followed the book to the dot we'd be spending so much time admiring the vegetation or the slope of the hill or the height of the trees or the clearness of the skies and i don't think i can take that.

I remember seeing this & some couple where behind my friends & I & we’d waited for this for ages & they where just flirting behind perhaps not paying attention then the singing started & the bloke just stopped taking & he was into it from that point & I enjoyed the rest of it. Actually asked him afterwards what he’d less talking with singing, he said that it was memorising a whole group coming together like that. I just left it like that lol 😂

The Misty Mountain theme is probably the best piece of music in both films. Though it is weirdly absent in any form in the second.

I was really bummed sitting in the cinema, waiting for the kickass theme to begin.

No, they are not poorly made. They just have a lighter athmosphere then the Lotr triology. Stop comparing the Hobbit movies with the Lotr movies, it is boring and stupid. And the Hobbit movies are working if you stop being so fanatical to the original book and to the Lotr movies. Just close your eyes and listen to the dialoges and the music and let the athmosphere go through you. Accept the movies like they are and be glad that they even made these movies ok. Stop with this nonesense "the Hobbit movies are stupid because bla bla bla and they should habe been like this bla bla bla". Guys, you didnt invent the Middle Earth world ok, you are no prof. Tolkien. Tolkien is the only one who can really disccus These movie (if he was still alive of Course) and only he would be the one who could Change the movies, if he was on the set. Others who enjoy the Hobbit movies feel sad that a lot of people are hating them just because they are not made like the Lotr movies. Dont get me wrong, the Lotr movies are brilliant but there is a difference in the athmosphere between the Hobbit and the Lotr movies, The Hobbit movies are more lighthearted and the Lotr movies are more darker and sometimes heavy to watch (not because they are bad, but i always feel uncomfteble? when the atmhosphere is to dark). Make a big movie yourself and you will realize that not everything can be made like they are in a book (even with all the Technology today). Sorry if i sounded rude but please let others, who enjoy the Hobbit movies, enjoy them and dont make them feel sad ok?

When winter comes, it will all be over. The magic will disappear, the gold will truly be forgotten, and the sun will set on the Shire one last time. Thank you Tolkien for an amazing adventure, and thanks to Peter Jackson for bringing it to life. The Lord of the Rings will be in our hearts forever.

But, there is still time, and still material. A pre hobbit HBO series? A silmarillion movie? Who knows. The Lord of the Rings will never die in our hearts. Keep the fan content going, and maybe even hope for 3D releases or remakes in the future. You have my bow.

I think that the way that the producers started with the middle of the trilogy then stepped back to teh first book and then the desolation of Smaug was a smart decision. It kind of gives the preface to the whole trilogy and sums it up nicely.

I recently got my hands on the extended edition of The Hobbit, and I just love the movie, the extended edition does not add as much as they did for the LOTR movies, but what it adds is still awesome. I truly love this movie, and I can't wait for the next one :)

These were the first books I picked up on my own when I was 9 barring a school assignment. I've reread them countless times since. The movies have done justice to the books considering how hard an act your own imagination is to follow. I've had no expectations between the books and movies and have enjoyed them both with an open mind.

This song just reminds me of, well, me. The song singing about all these things is like places I've worked voluntarily. Caverns old, I did some work sealing up an old cave which was a health hazard using a sledge hammer to destroy the rock around it (it was 3ft tall and went in 2ft but was full of pointy rocks), pines roaring in the night I work around trees on thursdays.also fires part, i make fires to burn fallen trees at the place I go on Thursdays. Sadly though my life isn't as awesome as the movies as every fight I'm in stops within seconds as I know how to use pressure points to win lol (use to do judo when I was younger. Got to black belt then gave up).

Chilling and very fitting to the film. Very reminiscent of "Mist and Shadow" from LotR in my opinion. I like how similar the music from the Hobbit sounds to LotR.

I remember sitting in the theater with my father and step mother watching this movie. When this song started I literally got chills. Then without saying a word my father and I both broke out singing this song along with the characters. Even in the theater you could see my step mothers jaw drop that we knew the words. (she has never read the books) Major points to them for putting the song in the movie. I knew at that moment that they had not made a mistake in going back and doing this.
