Oh come on baby
Let me take you by the hand
Oh now come on sugar
Let me take you by the hand, woh now
You're for me
Woh let me be, ah you're own candy, candy, candy man

Now come on baby
I love your honey lovin', honey lovin' ways
Yeah now come on sweetie
I love your honey lovin' ways
Yeah come to me
Oh let me be, ah your own candy, candy, candy man

Break
Now hey there woman
Gonna treat you right
Give you candy kisses
Every single night

Candy man
Candy man
Candy man (candy man)
Candy man (candy man)

You're for me
Oh let me be, ah your own candy, candy, candy man

Yeah you're for me
Woh let me be your candy man

Overall Meaning

The Hollies's song Candy Man is a playful and flirtatious tune about a man who is captivated by a woman's sweet and loving nature. The lyrics describe how he wants to take her hand and be her own "candy man" - a term that can be interpreted in different ways, but most likely refers to being sweet and satisfying like candy. He compliments her "honey lovin' ways" and promises to treat her right by giving her "candy kisses" every night. Overall, the song is a catchy, lighthearted love letter that celebrates the joy of being with someone who brings sweetness into your life.

One interesting fact about Candy Man is that it was written by the legendary songwriting duo of Gerry Goffin and Carole King. Goffin and King were responsible for penning many of the biggest hits of the 1960s, including "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," "One Fine Day," and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman." Candy Man was one of the first songs they wrote together and helped establish their reputation as a formidable songwriting team.

After hearing this album a while now all I have to say about it is that it’s by far one of the worst and shittiest records they made. And before you get mad I have a good reason why I feel this way and I’ll give y’all my favorite tracks on hear that aren’t bad and are actually really solid tracks I love. So here’s the negatives first,
1. the vocals are not there, what do I mean by that is that the usual Awsome harmonies they are so good at is just not that spectacular (except a few exceptions)
2. The majority of the album is covers, just like The Rolling Stones first album which I also think is kinda crappy Is just the Hollie’s singing cover and most of them are just outdated sounding which makes things worse
3. The track listing, even thou it’s an early record I don’t really expect it be like butterfly or evolution but still I feel there’s no consistency in the record.
4. I really don’t like is the album cover, normally I give these early album covers a break but this one is just so plane and unimaginative when ever I hear the music I just look up the us cover “here I go again” because it’s a better cover.
5, last but certainly not least is the song choices this chould be with the covers argument but it’s different. I feel like the album chould have had better songs on it. Here’s my revised track listing and if they would have went with this the album would have been a classic like please please me from the Beatles.

1. Here I go again
2. Talkin’ ‘bout
3. Searchin’
4. Lucille
5. Baby Don’t Cry
6. Zip a Dee Doo Dah
7. Stay
8. Rockin’ Robin
9. Whatcha Gonna Do ‘Bout it?
10. Hey What’s Wrong with me
11. It’s only Make Believe
12, just like me
13. Little lover
14. Whole world over

Ok like I promised here are the songs I actually really like when hearing this album

1. Talkin bout you
2. Mr moonlight
3, Lucille
4. Baby don’t cry
5. Stay
6. Rockin robin
7, and lastly little lover
Obviously I like some of these more then other but even then only like three of the 7 are classic sounding Hollie’s songs and the ones are 5, 6, and 7 so yea that’s how I feel about this album. Maybe in like a year or two from now I’ll make a update how I feel but as of right now I’m very underwhelmed. And I only recommend this to die hard hollie fans. And if you want a solid early Hollie’s beat album check out their second album in the Hollie’s style it packs a bigger punch and holds up much better then this album and you won’t be disappointed.
