Frequent releases during the mid-60s included many cover versions of popular songs, as well as a few group-penned hits and many songs written especially for them by professional songwriters.
The Hollies were formed in 1962 in Lancashire, England. By 1965,the group had been established as one of Britain's pre-eminent singles bands. As part of the British Invasion, they enjoyed huge chart success in many countries in the mid-Sixties, releasing a string of classic harmony-pop hits including Bus Stop I'm Alive, a UK No. 1, I Can't Let Go, Stop Stop Stop, Carrie Anne, On A Carousel, Look Through Any Window, and Jennifer Eccles.
In 1972, the hit Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress reached #2 in the US. Their last mega hit was He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, hitting #1 in the UK in 1988 (albeit 19 years after its first release).
The band are noted for their longevity, with their 2006 tour chalking up 45 years. Despite numerous changes in line-up, Tony Hicks & Bobby Elliott have been with the band almost from its inception.
Lead singer Allan Clarke left The Hollies in 1971, though he rejoined the band at later times. He was eventually replaced by Carl Wayne, ex lead singer of The Move, who passed away in 2004. Wayne was replaced by Peter Howarth. The 2007 line up is, Ian Parker on keyboards, Ray Stiles (Ex Mud, remember 'Tiger Feet') on bass guitar and Alan Coates on guitar and vocals by Steve Lauri.
Original bass player Eric Haydock died in January 2018.
The Hollies were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 15, 2010.

Cos You Like to Love Me
The Hollies Lyrics

You don't like holding me tight
What's wrong with me
I don't know
Maybe it's time I should go
But just as I get to the door
You look at me and say no
Come and make love to me
Stay, stay
'Cause you like to love me
And just me and nobody else
And I like to love you
And just you and nobody else
We should get out more, I know
But we're just too lazy to go
What's outside that's not in here
Nothing's so good that's so near
But just as I get to the door
You look at me and say no
Come and be good to me
Come and make love to me
Stay, stay
'Cause you like to love me
And just me and nobody else
And I like to love you
And just you and nobody else
But just as I get to the door
You look at me and say no
Come and be good to me
Come and make love to me
Stay, stay
'Cos you like to love me
And just me and nobody else
And I like to love you
And just you and nobody else
The Hollies' song "Cos You Like to Love Me" is a sweet and romantic tune that details a comfortable and loving relationship between two individuals. The song highlights the contrasting behavior of the two individuals, where the singer is willing to go out and explore while the other is quite happy to stay in and bask in the love they share. The song does well to highlight the unique connection and love shared between these two people, realising that they don't need anyone else in their lives because they are contented in each other's company.
The chorus of the song serves as the main message of the song, where they sing about the mutual love and desire for just each other. The love that they share is exclusive, and they do not require anyone else to make them feel more loved or wanted. Despite the lazy tendencies, the couple deeply cares for each other and enjoys each other's company.
In conclusion, the song is a sweet and romantic tune that highlights the beauty of a committed relationship where love is exclusive, and the individuals do not need anyone else in their lives. The song is a representation of true love, which is not forceful but comfortable and allows individuals to be themselves while still being in the company of the one they love.

I feel that something's right
I have a sense that something is okay
You don't like holding me tight
You do not enjoy embracing me closely
What's wrong with me
What is the issue with myself
I don't know
I am unsure
Maybe it's time I should go
Perhaps it is appropriate for me to depart
But just as I get to the door
As I approach the exit
You look at me and say no
You gaze at me and deny my exit
Come and be good to me
Come and treat me kindly
Come and make love to me
Come and engage in an intimate act with me
Stay, stay
Remain here with me
'Cause you like to love me
Because you enjoy loving me
And just me and nobody else
Exclusively me and no other individuals
And I like to love you
And I enjoy loving you
And just you and nobody else
Exclusively you and no other individuals
We should get out more, I know
We should go outside more, I am aware
But we're just too lazy to go
However, we are simply too indolent to do so
What's outside that's not in here
What is out there that is not inside this place
Nothing's so good that's so near
Nothing is so extraordinary that is located so nearby
'Cos you like to love me
Because you enjoy loving me
And just me and nobody else
Exclusively me and no other individuals
