The Gloves single arrived early in 2007, heralding the release of the Horrors' full-length debut, Strange House, which arrived in the U.K. that March and in the U.S. in May. In 2008, Webb and Furse formed the analog synth project Spider & the Flies, and released the album Something Clockwork This Way Comes. For 2009's Primary Colours, the band worked with Cunningham and Portishead's Geoff Barrow as co-producers, opting for a very different sound that mixed shoegaze, post-punk, and goth; the album was released by XL that spring and earned several critical raves, including NME's Album of the Year. In between albums, Badwan teamed with Canadian opera singer Rachel Zeffira for the hazy pop project Cat's Eyes, which released its self-titled debut in early 2011. The Horrors self-produced their follow-up, 2011's Skying, which featured a lighter yet still atmospheric sound that drew comparisons to My Bloody Valentine and the Psychedelic Furs. In 2012, they released the remix companion album Higher and embarked on an extensive tour. In 2013, they began recording new material with producer Craig Silvey. Early the following year, the single "I See You" reflected the more expansive direction of their fourth album, Luminous, which arrived in May 2014. The Horrors began work on their next full-length with Paul Epworth at London's Church Studios in 2015, and forged a darker, rawer yet still danceable sound that borrowed from '80s post-punk, synth-pop, and '90s dance. The result was V, which arrived in September 2017.

The Horrors Lyrics

Down, down
You feel the jewel in the crown slipping out
Gotta keep your eyes on the road
Don′t let them close
It's all an act, part of my love
I won′t let you go
Ship full of hypnotists
I slip, I won't let you go
Come feel her, come feel her
Come feel her, come feel her
Come feel her, come feel her
Come feel her
This is the river, for the dreamers
Rolling over in the sea
I′m just a believer, lifetimes dreamer
Rolling over at the sea
Come feel her, come feel her
Come feel her, come feel her
Come feel her, come feel her
Come feel her
The lyrics of The Horrors's song "Ghost" convey a sense of disorientation and instability, contrasting with the dreamy and ethereal quality of the music. The opening lines, "People falling around, down, down" suggest a chaotic atmosphere, where individuals are losing their footing and entering into a spiraling fall. The metaphor of a "jewel in the crown slipping out" furthers the sense of loss and vulnerability as something of great value is at risk of being lost.
The lines "Feels like I'm tied to these tracks, no way out" delve into feelings of entrapment, as if the singer is stuck and unable to break free. The line "Ship full of hypnotists" creates a sense of unease and suggests a manipulative force at work. However, the repeated refrain of "Come feel her" seems to offer a promise of connection and comfort, perhaps hinting at the potential for positive human relationships to provide an antidote to the chaos and confusion depicted in the earlier verses.
Overall, the lyrics of "Ghost" are abstract and enigmatic, but the sense of swirling emotions and the need to hold tight to the things that matter most are palpable. The song's blend of dark, moody music and emotive lyrics create a compelling and haunting effect.

my favorite song!! it put me in a trance from the first moment i heard it. i love 'primary colours' just as much as anyone but i'd dare say that 'v' is their strongest album yet imo..... i'm immersed in every single bit of it. and this video is sooo incredible, cathartic, and makes me weirdly emotional in the best way
