Mirror's Image
The Horrors Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Is it her way
Is it the way she looks at you
Seeing her face
As you walk through the crowded avenue
That sets you afire
Remembering all you left behind
Don't fall back in line
Better you let her memory die

Draw strength
Walk on into the night
Better you try to pass her by
Walk on into the night

Is it too late

Or are you forever in this state of crippling shyness
Whenever you see her walking by

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Horrors' song, Mirror's Image, tell the story of a person struggling to move on from a past relationship. The first verse describes how the person is still drawn to their former partner, likely due to the way she looks at them. However, they also realize that they need to let go of their memories and move on. The second verse poses the question of whether it is too late for the person to move on from their shyness and anxiety when they see their ex-partner. The chorus encourages the person to draw strength from within themselves and keep moving forward, despite the difficulties.

The lyrics of Mirror's Image are quite poetic, with several layers of meaning. On the surface, the song appears to be about a failed love affair, but it can also be interpreted as a metaphor for the struggles we all face when trying to let go of the past and move forward in life. The theme of struggling with one's own weaknesses and doubts, and the need for inner strength to overcome them, is universal and relatable.

I don't know about you all, but this song for me is pure perfection. The Horrors have a lot of very good songs but this one is one of their best <3 I love it because it has so much raw feelings to it.
