Love You More
The Hours Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I love you more than my football team,
I love you more than my Adidas trainers,
If you knew me better you'd know how much that means
I love you more than Caravaggio,
I love you more than all of my hooded tops,
I love you more than Tony Soprano,
I, can't imagine, a world, without you, no
I, cannot fathom, what we'd do
Better than Elvis in his 60th comeback,
Better than Clive in 74,
You've got more balls than Johnny Cash the Man in Black,
I know I'm greedy but I want more!
You mean more to me than the Clash on a disc,
You know I loved them since I was a kid,
I'd take a bullet for you in a flash,
I'd crawl a million miles on broken glass
I, can't imagine, a world, without you, no
I, cannot fathom, what we'd do
I, can't imagine, my world, without you, no
I, I cannot fathom, just what we'd do
What we would do
Yeah, I love you more than my record collection,
I love you more than my football team,
I love you more than my adidas trainers,
I love you more than you'll ever know!
The Hours's song Love You More is a beautiful and heartfelt tribute to someone special in the singer's life. The lyrics are full of comparisons to things the singer loves, and every time he asserts that he loves this person even more than that. The song starts with a comparison to the singer's record collection, which is clearly a cherished possession, and he sings that he loves this person even more than that collection. Similarly, he loves this person more than his football team or his Adidas trainers, which are obviously things that are very important to him.
The next verse continues in the same vein of comparing this person to other things that the singer loves, such as Caravaggio, the hooded tops he wears, and Tony Soprano. The singer emphasizes that this person means more to him than any of those things. The chorus is a beautiful declaration of the singer's love and the fact that he cannot imagine a world without this person. The bridge of the song introduces more comparisons, such as the singer's love being better than Elvis' comeback or Clive in '74. The singer then declares that this person has more balls than Johnny Cash and that he wants more of their love. The song ends with the singer again emphasizing that he loves this person more than anything else in his life.
