Friedman was once a member of the indie rock outfit The Boggs. In November 2007, following a US tour supporting The Boggs’ third album Forts, Jason Friedman and touring member Eleanore Everdell found themselves in the studio recording a brand new collaborative track without the rest of the band. Friedman said: "In the past, the collaborators I worked with would adjust what they did to fit my vision. Working with Eleanore it was clear that the time had come to shift into a more equal partnership.” In the 10 months since that session, the seven-year-old The Boggs were laid to rest, and The Hundred in the Hands were formed.
The first song completed was "Dressed in Dresden." In March 2009 the band released the single Dressed in Dresden / Undressed in Dresden on Pure Groove label. The online success of this song led in August 2009 to a deal with Warp Records, which Friedman calls "near the top of my list of ideal labels." Warp issued the 12-inch single Dressed in Dresden in 5 April 2009.
Eleanore Everdell also sang on "Lover’s Day" from TV on the Radio’s Dear Science.
THITH released in 18 May 2010 their first 6-track EP This Desert, followed by the singles Pigeons in 13 September 2010 and Commotion / Aggravation in 15 November 2010. The song "Pigeons" supported by an original music video, became their most popular song. In 20 September 2010 they released the debut album The Hundred in the Hands.
The Hundred in the Hands are inspired by artists like Young Marble Giants, Wire, New Order, The Cure, De La Soul, Buddy Holly, Broadcast, LCD Soundsystem and many others.
The duo's second studio album, Red Night, was released on 11 June 2012.

Killing It
The Hundred in the Hands Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Romances, always is
Hidden
Resistances
Was it
Lonely?
No
It wasn't
We were
Killing it
Isn't it all so...
We were
Killing it
Isn't it all so...
Awesome
I swear
I would
For you
Heartbreaks and lies
Eyes lock, paralyzed
I don't know why
I don't why
We were
Killing it
Into it
Still I keep
Thinking it's...
Me
I Keep
Falling
You keep
Calling
Tell me why
Tell me why
You wore
That look of yours
That once took my breathe away
That all you have to say?
Then, it's not up to you
Holding, discreetly
Keeping controlled
Fascinated
Dispossessed
When we
Kissed I
Flinched I
Tried to
Hide it
Tell me why
Tell me why
Tell no lies
Tell no lies
Tell no lies
Tell me why
Tell me why
The song "Killing It" by The Hundred in the Hands is one that speaks of the complexities of relationships. The first verse is talking about chances and romances being lost, but the resistances are hidden, and the feeling of loneliness is not present. This is saying that the relationship is not perfect, and there are things that may not be working, but the couple is not alone in this. They are not feeling lonely, despite the issues. They are "killing it" in the relationship, which means that they are doing well despite the odds.
The second verse speaks about heartbreaks and lies, and how the eyes are locked and paralyzed, meaning they cannot look away. The person singing does not know why the relationship is the way it is, but still thinks that they are "killing it." This shows that even though they may not have all the answers and may not understand certain things, they still believe that they are doing their best in the relationship. The chorus repeats that the couple is "killing it," and it's all so awesome.
The bridge talks about how the person singing is falling while the other person is calling. They keep thinking about the relationship and wonder if it's all them. They talk about a look that the other person wore that once took their breath away, but now nothing is said about it. In this part, they are trying to understand the other person's actions and motives. Overall, the song is about the ups and downs of a relationship and how even during the tough times, they believe they are doing their best.
