THE HUNGRY HEARTS is a pin-up performance band who`s members express themselves through music, lyrics and choreographed body movement. With music inspired by David Lynch and Marlene Diedrich, there is singing about kisses waiting to be found, high heel shoes walking the highway of love and how passion splits their wild hearts. Old-fashioned, melodramatic and moody. THE HUNGRY HEARTS tell stories that involve the experience of the body through their performances, seeking to recreate forgotten dreams in atmospheric scenarios where old memories return and remind them of their forgotten dreams...
THE HUNGRY HEARTS was established in 2006 under the name Sofia and the Secret band. In August the same year they performed a double bill at Bar Wotever in London. In February 2007 they performed at the opening of Vestlandsutstillingen, a regional Norwegian art exhibition.

MAGIC.
I`ll always remember- I`ll never forget
I`ll always remember you
High heels are walking- the highway of love
Red lips are shining
And she is kissing me -she is choosing me
That´s what I call magic
Lonely dogs hungry- hungry for love
A handsome pretender surrenders in her arms
Her lips are moving -telling lies
Lovely lies in a beautiful disguise
And in her arms -I believe-I believe in love
I`ll always remember- I`ll never forget
Lonely dogs crying in the rain
High heels are walking the highway of love
Red lips are shining
And she`s still kissing you- she´s still choosing you
That´s what you call magic

The Hungry Hearts Lyrics

The streets of Moscow with my girlfriend
The streets of Moscow with my girlfriend
A lonely drumbeat out in space
Repeats a heartbeat forever lost
Floating like a dream in an empty room
A weightless Laika looking at the moon
A homeless shadow trapped in the cosmic computer
A little curly dog embraced by endless space
An echo of her life floating like a dream
Forever lost in the Sputnik Space Machine
She loves the disco, she loves the disco
She loves the disco flying through the air
She loves the disco, she loves the disco
She loves the disco flying through her hair
She could have been my love
She could have been my life
The streets of Moscow with my girlfriend
The streets of Moscow with my girlfriend
You could have closed my eyes
You could have told some lies
And then you left me here out in the atmosphere
Without the disco, without the disco
Hearts on fire
Burning with this sad desire
Der untergang ist jetzt, der untergang ist hier
(The downfall is now, the downfall is here)
My life is sadness, my life is madness
I love the disco, I love the disco
I love the disco flying through the air
I love the disco, I love the disco
I love the disco flying through my hair
She could have been my love
She could have been my life
The streets of Moscow with my girlfriend
The streets of Moscow with my girlfriend
Hearts on fire
Burning with this sad desire
Der untergang ist jetzt, der untergang ist hier
My life is sadness, My life is madness
I miss the disco, I miss the the disco
I miss the disco flying through the air
She loves the disco, she loves the disco
She loves the disco flying through her hair
The streets of Moscow with my girlfriend
The streets of Moscow with my girlfriend
The Hungry Hearts’ song, “Laika,” is a poetic tribute to the first living creature, a dog named Laika, that was launched into space. The song captures the loneliness and weightlessness of space that Laika must have felt. The opening lines, “The streets of Moscow with my girlfriend,” creates an interesting contrast with the subject matter of the song, which takes place in space. The implication is that Laika and the singer are both searching for something, be it meaning, love or connection in a strange and unfamiliar place.
The chorus of the song, “She loves the disco, she loves the disco, she loves the disco flying through her hair,” creates a radiant and optimistic image, in direct contrast with Laika’s lonely experience. The persistent drumbeat in the background reinforces the theme of repetition and the monotony of Laika’s journey. The lyrics evoke empathy for Laika, the “little curly dog,” who is “forever lost in the Sputnik Space Machine.”
The final lines of the song, “The streets of Moscow with my girlfriend,” are a haunting reminder of the fact that Laika never returned to Earth. The song acknowledges her sacrifice, poignantly capturing the melancholic reality that Laika represented. Overall, “Laika” is a beautiful and introspective song that commemorates the life and death of the first animal in space.
