Itβ²s nothing like I thought it'd be
Itβ²s harder, baby
And loving you is great but sometimes we just have to move on
Yeah, yeah, ayy
Know I keep my head held high
I still get choked up insideThe thought of you
I try so hard to be strong
But it's hard to carry on without you
Yeah
But I'm okay
Iβ²m on a rise
Nothingβ²s gonna stop me from gettin' it
Iβ²m okay
I'm on a rise
Nothingβ²s gonna stop me from gettin' it (hmm, yay)
In "Missing You," The Internet explores the conflicting emotions that come with missing someone. The opening lines, "Missing you, it's nothing like I thought it'd be, it's harder, baby," convey the surprise and difficulty of dealing with the longing for another person. The initial expectation of missing someone might have been simpler, but the reality proves to be more challenging.
The lyrics continue by saying that loving someone can be great, but sometimes it is necessary to move on. This suggests that even though the love is strong, there are situations where letting go is the healthier choice. This internal conflict between holding on and moving forward is a common theme in the song.
The next two lines, "Know I keep my head held high, I still get choked up inside, the thought of you," reveal that although the person tries to appear strong outwardly, there are still moments of vulnerability and emotional turmoil internally. There is a struggle to maintain composure while the thoughts of the person they miss continue to affect them deeply.
The chorus, "I'm okay, I'm on a rise, nothing's gonna stop me from gettin' it," serves as a declaration of resilience and determination. It expresses the willingness to move forward despite the difficulties and the belief that nothing can hinder their progress. This is further emphasized with the repetition of the line in the chorus, emphasizing the strength and determination to overcome the pain of missing someone.
Overall, the song "Missing You" reflects the complexities of missing someone and the internal battle between holding on and letting go. It illustrates the struggle to maintain strength and resilience while also acknowledging the emotional turmoil that occurs within. The chorus acts as a reminder of the individual's determination to rise above the pain and continue moving forward in their journey.
