1) 60's British pop trio The Ivy League consisted of members John Carter, Ken Lewis (previous members of Carter-Lewis and the Southerners), and Perry Ford. All three members were session singers who possessed high-pitched singing voices, forming the group in 1964. Although an initial single quickly disappeared from sight, their second single, "Funny How Love Can Be," turned out to be a surprise U.K. Top Ten hit. Further hits followed, including "That's Why I'm Crying" and a cover of "Tossing And Turning," the latter of which hit number three on the U.K. charts. The original trio managed to only release a single full-length album, 1965's This Is the Ivy League, before both Carter and Lewis left the group a year later. With replacement members Tony Burrows and Neil Landon taking the recently departed original members' places, the Ivy League issued two more full-lengths, 1967's Sounds of the Ivy League and 1969's Tomorrow Is Another Day. They scored another minor hit, "Willow Tree," before changing their name to The Flowerpot Men. In the '80s, fans of the group were confused by a band going by the name of The Ivy League which performed the group's hits at nightclubs, even though none of the group's earlier members were involved. During the '90s, several best-of compilations surfaced, including 1998's 43-track Major League: the Collectors' Ivy League.
2) The Ivy League is a Punk Rock band from Wilmington, NC. The band started out as an Oi! band and as time went on they became a uniqiue style of Punk Rock. Shortly after their CD release tour in 2007 the band broke up and are supposedly re-forming.
3) The Ivy League is an Indie-Pop/Alternative Rock Band from New York, NY. The band has gained a small but avid following through friends of friends, and are quickly turning into one of the fledgling New York High School scene's bands to watch. They have released a music video and digital single, and are scheduled to release their debut, The North Star, early in 2009.

The Ivy League Lyrics

I couldn't sleep a wink last night just a-thinking of you
Baby things weren't right I kept on tossin' and turnin'
Turnin' and tossin' tossin' and turnin' all night
I threw the blankets on the floor, turned my pillow upside down
Then I thought of you some more
And I kept on tossin' and turnin' turnin' and tossin'
Tossin' and turnin' all night
Pulled down the shade went to the kitchen for a bite
Pulled up the shade, turned off the light
I jumped back into bed it was the middle of the night
The clock downstairs was striking four, couldn't get you off my mind
Heard the milkman at the door but I was tossin' and turnin'
The Ivy League's "Tossing and Turning" is a catchy pop song about the inability to sleep due to thoughts of a new love interest. The singer is pleading with his lover to see how they are affecting him, as he couldn't sleep a wink the previous night just thinking of them. The chorus repeats how he kept tossing and turning throughout the night unable to find a comfortable position while his thoughts remain consumed with his love interest. The lyrics describe the drastic measures the singer took to try and fall asleep, from throwing his blankets on the floor to turning his pillow upside down. Despite his efforts, he could not fall asleep and was even more frustrated as he watched the clock downstairs chime four in the morning.
