Somebody help me now
Somebody help me now
Somebody help me
Find my baby
Somebody help me
Find my baby right now
(CHORUS)
I`m looking for a love
I`m looking for a love
I`m looking here and there
I`m searching everywhere
I`m looking for a love
To call my own
Gonna get up in the morning
And rub my head
I`m looking for a love
To call my own
Fix my breakfast
And bring it to my bed
I`m looking for a love
To call my own
Do my love
Do it all the time
I`m looking for a love
To call my own
With lots of love and kisses
But people until then
I`m looking for a love
To call my own
(CHORUS)
Stay in my corner
All the way, yeah
I`m looking for a love
To call my own
Stick by me, baby
No matter what they say
I`m looking for a love
To call my own
I`ll give my love
To her all the time
I`m looking for a love
To call my own
Loving, kissing
People on the way
I`m looking for a love
To call my own
(CHORUS)
Somebody help me
To find my baby
I said I`ve got to find
My baby right now
I`m looking in the morning
I`m looking at night
Got to find my baby
But she`s nowhere in sight
Somebody help me
To find my baby
I said I`ve got to find
My baby right now
I`m looking in the morning
I`m looking at night
Got to find my baby
She`s nowhere in sight
I`m looking, I`m looking
I`m looking, I`m looking......
The J. Geils Band's "Looking for a Love" is an upbeat, soulful song about searching for love. The lyrics convey a sense of urgency as the singer pleads for somebody to help him find his baby. He is looking everywhere, morning and night, and is desperate to find someone to call his own.
The singer talks about doing everything for his love, from fixing breakfast to giving her lots of love and kisses. He promises to stay by her side no matter what everyone else says. Ultimately, he is looking for that special connection that will make his life complete.
The repeated chorus emphasizes the singer's desire for love and the importance it holds in his life. Despite the upbeat tone, there is an underlying sadness to the lyrics as the singer expresses his longing for a deep and meaningful connection.
Overall, "Looking for a Love" is a powerful song about the search for love and the way it can consume one's thoughts and emotions.

This will always be my favorite song the band ever did, Peter Wolfe was da bomb! God, did we ever have fun listening to them play back in the day, hard to think it's been more than 40 years ago now. Strange I never hear any of the local rock stations play this one either, it's usually Centerfold and that's about it, and that's not even that often. Sorry to hear that J Geils passed yesterday.

When I was 14yrs old, 9th grade in high school back in 1982 (damn, that makes me feel old lol) I had already been to a few concerts. The Kinks, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and Mott (members of Mott then Hoople, after leader/singer/songwriter/rhythm guitarist left to go solo), The Clash. I had tickets to see The Who, for a few months later, with The Clash opening, on what was billed as their 'Farewell Tour' (as we know now, the first of many lol).
I had been a serious rock fan for about 8 yrs already and now was beginning to get into seeing my favorites live. I was working selling newspaper subscriptions, so began to have a little cash. Tickets for the J. Geils Band went on sale. This was when Freeze Frame was out and Centerfold and Freeze Frame were getting lots of airplay. So I got two tickets.
I hadn't heard a whole lot about their live reputation yet. For some reason I kinda missed that? Lol So about 2 or 3 weeks before the show I was having problems getting someone to go who drove. I wound up selling the tickets to the older brother of a friend of mine..He went and the next day practically ripped my arm off shaking it to thank me. Told me they were unbelievably good.
I read the review that day in The L.A. Times. Said same thing-J. Geils Band tore the roof off. Lol To this day whenever I hear J. Geils on the radio (sadly isn't often) or see anything about them I immediately recall my goof in selling those tickets. As it turns out, their legacy includes a reputation as one of the greatest live rock bands ever. Lol
Nothing but a house party.
