Although blinded by eye cancer at the tender age of one, Jeff picked up his first guitar when he was three years-old and defied the odds and became a gifted and successful artist. He developed his own unique style of playing the guitar while it lay flat on his lap. Jeff quickly became a local guitar legend in his own right with his virtuosity. The group played around small Toronto-area clubs for a few years before eventually signing with BMG Canada and Arista Records for the rest of the world, and releasing their debut album See The Light in 1988, which featured the top charting hits "Angel Eyes" and "See The Light".
The Jeff Healey Band played and recorded Blues/Blues Rock-infused music along with many original-flavored covers. The band officially released five studio albums and one live recording including the sophomore Hell To Pay (1990), Feel This (1992), Cover To Cover (1995), Get Me Some (2000), and Live At Montreux 1999 (2005). There have also been some recent unofficial compilation releases without the consent of the artists.
Jeff and his band also performed a cameo role in the Patrick Swayze movie "Roadhouse" and they are featured in its official soundtrack.
The group split up in the late 2000, but Jeff continued performing as a solo artist and would later front Jeff Healey & The Jazz Wizards playing trumpet. He died on March 2, 2008 after a long battle with lung cancer, and is survived by his wife, Cristie, and two children.

I want to tell you bout this baby of mine
Just in a few words, brother, she is so fine
She's my darling girl
And I wouldn't change her for the world
Well, I've never been in love like I am with-a my little girl
She gives me all the love I want and more
She's my angel baby
And I wouldn't change her for the world, now
Oh, I never been in love like I am with-a my little girl
Hey, now, she's the cutest thing that I've ever seen
And when you see her you'll know just what I mean
She's my baby doll girl and I wouldn't change her for the world
Well, I've never been in love like I am with-a my little girl
Now, there's just only one thing that I have to say
I'm gonna love her for the rest of my days
'Cause she's my darling girl
And I wouldn't change her for the world
Oh, I never been in love like I am with-a my little girl
Say, well, I never been in love like I am with-a my little girl
One more time, people
Never been in love like I am with-a my little girl
The Jeff Healey Band's song "My Little Girl" is a sweet and heartfelt tribute to the love between a father and his daughter. The tone of the song is tender and affectionate, conveyed with simple and straightforward lyrics. The singer of the song, presumably Healey himself, introduces the song by describing his daughter as "so fine" and his "darling girl." He goes on to explain that he has never been in love like he is with her, and that she gives him all the love he wants and more. He describes her as his "angel baby" and "baby doll girl," and states that he wouldn't change her for the world.
The song is a celebration of the unconditional love that a parent has for their child, and the special bond that exists between a father and daughter. Healey's use of simple, sincere language reflects the depth of emotion that underlies the song, and captures the essence of the love that he feels for his daughter.
