Formed by former members of the now defunct band PF Station, JSB draw their name from the name of the subject of one of PF Station's songs, "A Night in the Life of Fly Jimmy Swift". Before eventually choosing their current name, the band was known for a time as Fly Jimmy Swift.
Combining intricate guitar and a distinctly electronica keyboard sound with a hard hitting and rock solid rock rhythm section, the band is known for its lengthy progressive instrumental jams that get the crowd up and moving.
The band has won three East Coast Music Awards, including Best Alternative Artist in 2002. The same year, JSB won three Music Industry Association of Nova Scotia (MIANS) awards, including Artist of the Year.
In 2004 the band produced their first video for the single "Two Hands on the Wheel" with New Brunswick filmmaker Greg Hemmings. On November 28, 2006, JSB released an animated video produced by Copernicus Studios for the single "Turnaround", from the album Weight of the World.
The band maintains a busy touring schedule across Canada and the US, and they have performed at numerous festivals including Nova Scotia's Evolve Festival, Prince Edward Island's Shoreline Festival, Moedown (NY), Haymaker (VA), the World Electronic Music Festival (Toronto) and many more. The group are at the head of a growing Atlantic Canada jam scene, and frequently play with fellow scene mates Grand Theft Bus, and Slowcoaster.

Can't you feel it coming on
Heres that package now, can't have one without the other
Can't you feel it coming on
You better take a bow, this could be your best performance
Can't you feel it coming on
Somebody tell me how, how to keep on moving forward
And when it comes it don't stop coming
Careful what you're wishing for
And when it takes it don't leave nothing
Haven't we been here before
Look who's laughing now, it's not you unless you're lying
Can't you feel it coming on
You're so much older now, you can feel the distance closing
Can't you feel it coming on
And when it comes it don't stop coming
Careful what you're wishing for
And when it takes it don't leave nothing
Haven't we been here before
Look who's laughing now, it's not you unless you're lying
Can't you feel it coming on
You're so much older now, you can feel the distance closing
Sleepless in my anhedonia
Sleepless in my anhedonia
Sleepless in my anhedonia
Sleepless in my anhedonia
Sleepless in my anhedonia
Sleepless in my anhedonia
Sleepless in my anhedonia
Sleepless in my anhedonia
Sleepless in my anhedonia
The song "Anhedonia" by The Jimmy Swift Band talks about a feeling of emptiness and inability to experience pleasure, which is also known as anhedonia. The lyrics suggest that the person addressed in the song has been waiting for something, and now that it has arrived, they still feel empty. They are encouraged to take a bow for their performance, but it is not clear what that performance might be. The lyrics also suggest that the person feels like they are getting older and that the distance between them and others is closing.
The chorus of the song warns about being careful what one wishes for as "when it comes, it don't stop coming." This could indicate that the person has received something they desired, but it is not making them happy. The warning about being careful what one wishes for is repeated in the chorus, which could indicate that the person is stuck in a cycle of wanting things that do not bring them joy. The song ends by repeating the phrase "Sleepless in my anhedonia," which indicates that the person is unable to sleep due to their emotional state.
Overall, "Anhedonia" is a song about the feeling of emptiness and the inability to experience pleasure. The lyrics suggest that the person addressed in the song has been striving for something, but it has not given them happiness, and they feel alone and disconnected from others. The chorus warns against desiring things that do not bring happiness and suggests that the person is stuck in a cycle of unfulfilling desires.
