Had Enough
The John Entwistle Band Lyrics

Had Enough
I've had enough of being nice
I've had enough of righting wrong
I've had enough of trying to love my brother
I've had enough of being good
I'm doin' everything like I'm told I should
If you need a lover, you'd better find another
Life is for the living
Takers never giving

Suspicion takes the place of trust
My love is turning into lust
If you get on the wrong side of me, you better run for cover
I've had enough of being trodden on
My passive days are gonna be long gone
If you slap one cheek well I ain't gonna turn the other

Life is for the living
Takers never giving

Fooling no one
But ourselves
Good is dying
Here comes the end, here comes the end of the world

I'm gettin' sick of this universe
Ain't gonna get better, it's gonna get worse
And the world's gonna sink with the weight of the human race
Hate and fear in every face
I'm gettin' ready and I've packed my case
If ya find somewhere better, can you save my place?

Fooling no one
But ourselves

Love is dying
Here comes the end, here comes the end...of the world

The John Entwistle Band's "Had Enough" is a song that expresses frustration with different aspects of life. The lyrics are about feeling fed up with playing nice, trying to do the right thing, and being a good person to others. The singer states that if someone needs a lover, they should look elsewhere because he's done following the normal path. The songs transitions to a darker tone, where the lyrics suggest that trust has been replaced with suspicion, and love has turned into lust. The singer implies that if someone gets in his way, they better run for cover because he has had enough of being trodden on.

The song's chorus insists that life is for the living, and takers never give. The overall message is about feeling disillusioned with society and the world at large. Awesome.I read The Who never performed this live. So I’m glad John Entwistle was able to pull this off with his band. The lyrics speak to 2022’s post Pandemic world even though it was written back in 1978

Bumpin with Entwhistle, it doesn't get much better. He was just at a higher level.
