The dungeon was cold and dark, with a stale dampness that hung in the air like sewer vapor from the morning street drains. The mind of an individual subjected to such isolation and rejection no longer operates within the confines of normality. It does something much more. When isolated and ignored, the mind grows and creates its own world in which to live and creates entities and characters with whom it may share its experience. The mind of The Jokerr was for so long subjected to that isolation, and you are now a part of that world.
Once naive and innocent, The Jokerr has grown dark and sinister by that which he has endured, and now that he has been released he has embarked on an epic journey to regain his honor and sequester answers from those who wronged him.

I like the other mix better to be honest, I feel it builds much more and brings me to tears. This version is much more clearer but somehow lost a lot of character.
"I have done nothing!" Is SOOO powerful in the other version, as if the jokerrs anger and voice steadily rises where as the 2019 mix has his voice pretty much at the same level for that entire section. The emotions were mixed out of the song, the old version I can be fully entranced in and feel for Aithen, this version sounds too polished at a cost.
It's almost like the old mix has a wider sound (more reverb on the bass), whereas the new mix has a sense of depth, (thibk left and right compared to foreground and background). A to B the old mix, as art, sounds better. From a clarity soundpoint the 2019 mix shits on 09. I love and prefer the wider sound, the strings at the end are much wider in the old mix.
The autotuned "Ooh" part in the old one has far more energy whereas this version, it just comes in with a lack of energy, te original comes out, cuts through the dense mix and shines. This one just walks into a semi empty room and performs with not the same intensity. Almost like the vocal was compressed so much that the singing lacked in dynamics (it wasn't even volume automated). Everything sounds so compressed and so clean that it doesn't seem like a real performance, and not in a good way.
I love The Jokerr very much, but these empty sounding mixes he keeps putting out like "Sing my Song" are just not hitting right to me. It was good with "Short Changed" because that track was kind of minimalist so the song doesn't need to sound wide. He lost the sense of the Serenade of a Lifetime. I don't feel overwhelmed, I just hear multiple parts all very clearly and distinctly from one another, there is no Serenade or sense of being swept away by the music. "Release Me!!!" WAS spine-tingling, but now is just someone speaking mezzo/mf about being upset instead of Forte and really getting genuine emotion through.
No one who is being thrown in prison will say release me as tamed as the 2019 version, you would yell and raise your voice. There is no gradual increase in the attack of the voice, it doesn't reach the intensity that a natural performance would. Funny because it seems to be the same raw recording, so it is the same vocal performance, but the mix lost the human ness that made it such a powerful statement. I feel as though this particular song shouldn't be mixed to sound thin, it's supposed to be a grand performance, think orchestra rather than quartet or chamber ensemble, a large group vs a comparatively smaller group. This original mix sounded larger than life and like The Jokerr is some mega star performer, this one just sounds off. It's not as grand and grandiose, basically the type of mix listeners have come to associate with The Jokerr since Welcome To The Show.
