We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

[Chorus]
Glad tidings we bring
To you and your King
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

So bring us smoe figgy pudding;
So bring us some figgy pudding;
So bring us some figgy pudding and a cup of good cheer.

[Chorus]

We won't go until we got some;
We won't go until we got some;
We won't go until we got some, so bring some out here.

[Chorus]

We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

[Chorus]

**Alternate Chorus:
Good tidings to you

Wherever you are;
Good tidings for Christmas and a Happy New Year.]

Overall Meaning

The Jordanaires's classic Christmas song, "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," is a joyful and upbeat composition that perfectly captures the spirit of the holiday season. The orchestrated voices harmonize and sing in unison, wishing everyone a happy and festive time. The lyrics are simple and catchy, inspiring listeners to sing along and join in the holiday celebration. The song begins with the singers wishing the listener a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year over and over again. The chorus sings joyfully of glad tidings, and of wishing the listener a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, the ultimate wish of the song.

The second verse of the song becomes more demanding, as the singers request smoe figgy pudding and a cup of good cheer. The chorus repeats the wish for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. But then the song takes a humorous turn in the third verse, when the singers declare that they won't leave until they're given some figgy pudding to enjoy. This is a playful reference to the custom of going door-to-door at Christmas and demanding treats and gifts from homeowners. The final chorus is a repeat of the earlier chorus, a wish for peace, joy, and festivity for everyone.

Elvis didn't sing on this album. It is the Jordanaires & Orion. The Jordanaires along with Elvis' original band members did it as a tribute to Elvis.

They titled it " Christmas TO Elvis" & sung and recorded Elvis' favourite Christmas songs. :-)
