Their live show makes a bit more sense of their name. With their rhythmic layering and huge indie pop riffs, it’s hard to imagine them performing under any other name.
‘The Jungle Giants’ is the brain child of lead singer Sam Hales who originally arranged the band as a solo project, but soon found that there was more to the group. Landing their debut gig at the Brisbane Powerhouse as part of ‘Livespark’ in late 2010, they impressed crowds with their head bopping and exciting live show. The band spent the summer of 2010 writing and recording their self-titled debut EP that was released in 2011.

And though run I know your love has got me
Huh
I'm running high but I can't get enough of
The way you run my soul in
And if we let up we'll never get up
We'll never live above
You could be my bad dream
You could be my only one i think about
You could be my nightmare
And you'd still be my love
I come alive in time with the restart
And then I just come back to you, my dear
Huh
I come to find when i liked it i can't stop
The way run my soul in
And if we let up we'll never get up
We'll never live above
And if we let up we'll never get up
You could be my bad dream
You could be my only think about
You could be my nightmare
And you'd still be my love
You could be my bad dream
You could be my only think about
You could be my nightmare
And you'd still be my love
And if we let up
We'll never live up
And if we let up
You could be my bad dream
You could be my only thing I think about
You could be my nightmare
And you'd still be my love
The Jungle Giants' song "Bad Dream" is a love song that explores the idea of being so in love with someone that they become a huge part of your life, even in your dreams. The opening lines, "I come alive to the sound of your blast off," suggest that the person singing has a certain energy that is ignited by the other person's presence, and even though they may feel like they are running, they know that they are captured by the other person's love. The lines "I'm running high but I can't get enough of the way you run my soul in" further emphasize this idea.
Throughout the song, the notion of never letting up is present, as the singer believes that they will never live above if they do. The repetition of the lines "And if we let up we'll never get up" emphasises this. Yet despite this intense love and the potential of this person being a "bad dream" or a "nightmare," the singer is still in love with them. They could never let go, as shown by the lines "You could be my bad dream, you could be my only one I think about / You could be my nightmare and you'd still be my love."
Overall, "Bad Dream" is a catchy and upbeat representation of the intense, passionate love that can capture someone's heart.

Mostly popular in the 2010’s and I think they will be forgotten amongst the oversaturated content we have these days. Triple J pushed the agenda of this very average band for too long. IMO that title belongs to hiatus kaiyote, tame impala, king Giz and the vines.
