Their live show makes a bit more sense of their name. With their rhythmic layering and huge indie pop riffs, it’s hard to imagine them performing under any other name.
‘The Jungle Giants’ is the brain child of lead singer Sam Hales who originally arranged the band as a solo project, but soon found that there was more to the group. Landing their debut gig at the Brisbane Powerhouse as part of ‘Livespark’ in late 2010, they impressed crowds with their head bopping and exciting live show. The band spent the summer of 2010 writing and recording their self-titled debut EP that was released in 2011.

I didn't need my sanity anyway
I'm lying here in my brain
I feel good, something I can't explain
Well I don't use that certain type of brand
Oh, I don't need your man
It's alright, it's okay
I'm lying here in my brain
I feel good, something I can't explain
Well I don't use that certain type of brand, no
Oh, I don't need your man
No I don't
Come and be alone with me
We could get stoned, we can hang
I don't mind
You're the coolest girl
I've ever known
So why don't you just
Come and be alone with me?
Come and be alone with me
We could get stoned, we can hang
You're the coolest girl
I've ever known
So why don't you just
Come and be alone with me?
Come and be alone with me
Come and be alone with me
It's alright, it's okay
I didn't need my sanity anyway
The lyrics of The Jungle Giants's song "Come and Be Alone With Me" seems to describe someone who is content in their own headspace, even if it's a bit chaotic and doesn't make much sense to others. The singer seems to enjoy a certain feeling, but doesn't explain what it is or how they got there. They also seem to reject societal norms or expectations by saying they don't need a specific brand or a man. The repeated phrase "It's alright, it's okay, I didn't need my sanity anyway" suggests that the singer is comfortable with their own particular brand of madness.
The chorus, however, invites someone to be alone with the singer so they can "get stoned" and "hang". The singer fulfills social expectations to an extent by finding someone to be with, but they also seem to want that person to be content with whatever comes of the interaction. The repeated phrase "Come and be alone with me" shows that this interaction is an invitation for a specific type of intimacy - not necessarily romantic, but rather a chance to share the chaos in someone else's head.
Overall, the song has a vibe of being content with oneself, while also searching for meaningful connections with others.
