Their live show makes a bit more sense of their name. With their rhythmic layering and huge indie pop riffs, it’s hard to imagine them performing under any other name.
‘The Jungle Giants’ is the brain child of lead singer Sam Hales who originally arranged the band as a solo project, but soon found that there was more to the group. Landing their debut gig at the Brisbane Powerhouse as part of ‘Livespark’ in late 2010, they impressed crowds with their head bopping and exciting live show. The band spent the summer of 2010 writing and recording their self-titled debut EP that was released in 2011.

Stockpiled
Lightning
Has come to take us down
D-down, down, so get down
I won't run from this electric loving
Let it take me round, r-round, round, around
We'll be leaving here
Just let it pull
You away
And baby on your way down, way down
Come on and feel love
Clap your hands a little
I'll pull your guard down either way
Yeah, baby on your way down, way down
Come on and feel love
Clap your hands a little
I'll pull your guard down either way
I've been watching you go
The way you get down, d-down, get down
I've been liking this electric living
Been falling to the ground, so get down
But we don't care
We'll be leaving here
Just let it pull
You away
And baby on your way down, way down
Come on and feel love
Clap your hands a little
I'll pull your guard down either way
Yeah, baby on your way down, way down
Come on and feel love
Clap your hands a little
I'll pull your guard down either way
And baby on your way down, way down
Come on and feel love
Clap your hands a little
I'll pull your guard down either way
Yeah, baby on your way down, way down
Come on and feel love
Clap your hands a little
I'll pull your guard down either way
The Jungle Giants’ “On Your Way Down” appears to be about living life recklessly and freely. The song begins with a description of a dangerous setting: lightning has come, and there is an ominous feeling. Despite this, the singer declares that they won’t run from this “electric loving.” It’s clear that the singer is willing to take risks and embraces the rush that comes with living dangerously. The chorus repeats the phrase “on your way down” several times, encouraging listeners to let go of their fears and embrace their desires. The singer even promises to help pull down the listener’s guard.
The second verse focuses more on the listener, describing how they get down and how the singer has been enjoying living life on the edge. The repeated phrase “get down” emphasizes the carefree and wild nature of the song. The verses are short and repetitive, emphasizing the simplicity of the message: to live life to the fullest, without worrying about the consequences. There is something thrilling about this sort of reckless abandon, and the song tries to capture that feeling.
Overall, “On Your Way Down” encourages listeners to let go and live without fear of consequences. The song is catchy and energetic, encouraging listeners to join in and enjoy the ride.
