Their live show makes a bit more sense of their name. With their rhythmic layering and huge indie pop riffs, it’s hard to imagine them performing under any other name.
‘The Jungle Giants’ is the brain child of lead singer Sam Hales who originally arranged the band as a solo project, but soon found that there was more to the group. Landing their debut gig at the Brisbane Powerhouse as part of ‘Livespark’ in late 2010, they impressed crowds with their head bopping and exciting live show. The band spent the summer of 2010 writing and recording their self-titled debut EP that was released in 2011.
She's a Riot

Saying all the things you’ve never done
There’s not much time and less to say
Oh please, just come away
You could be my lady
And we’ll walk the streets
For no reason maybe
Just till you see won’t be so lonely
She’s well-known to police
'Cause she looks like a riot
Always takes what she needs and leaves the rest behind
Oh this love would kill me
But I don’t think I mind
Blame it on the way
We don’t even care
We know we'll be alright, alright, yeah
We fall asleep in the morning light
Oh, and when we dream we just might
Find a way to make sense of everything we've seen tonight
You could be my lady
And we’ll walk the streets
For no reason maybe
Just till you see won’t be so lonely
When you’re with me you won’t ever be so lonely
She’s well-known to police
'Cause she looks like a riot
Always takes what she needs and leaves the rest behind
Oh this love would kill me
But I don’t think I mind
Blame it on the way
We don’t even care
We know we'll be alright, be alright, be alright, yeah
We'll be alright
Wake up, turn around
You’re my girl
If you stick with me
Then you won’t ever be so lonely
She’s well-known to police
'Cause she looks like a riot
Always takes what she needs and leaves the rest behind
Oh this love would kill me
But I don’t think I mind
Blame it on the way
We don’t even care
We know we'll be alright, alright, yeah
Alright, alright, alright
The Jungle Giants' song "She's a Riot" is about a dangerous and alluring woman who is well-known to the police. The singer of the song finds this woman beside him, talking about all the things she's never done. The singer wants her to come away with him so that they can walk the streets together, without any reason other than to be together, and not feel lonely anymore. The woman is described as someone who takes what she needs and leaves the rest behind, but the singer doesn't mind that this love might kill him. They don't care about anything else because they know they'll be alright as long as they're together. They fall asleep in the morning light and dream of finding a way to make sense of everything they've seen that night.
The song "She's a Riot" has a catchy and upbeat melody that contrasts with the lyrics, which are about a potentially dangerous situation. The lyrics suggest that the woman is in some way living on the edge and that the singer is drawn to her because of this. The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "She's well-known to police 'cause she looks like a riot," which creates an image of a woman who is both beautiful and dangerous.
The song is a commentary on the thrill of danger and living on the edge. It is about taking risks and living life to the fullest, even if it means putting oneself in potentially dangerous situations. The lyrics suggest that the singer is willing to take this risk because he is drawn to the woman's dangerous allure.
