In 2007, The Kindness Kind recorded their debut album, A Novel, at Bear Creek Studio with Lucas Carlyle (credits include: The Gossip, The Octopus Project, The Album Leaf). A Novel went on to chart CMJ and was featured in numerous reviews including the Toronto Star's Anti-hit List column.
For their self-titled follow up (out November 2008), The Kindness Kind has taken their latest batch of songs to various studios and spaces in Washington State, with producer Lucas Carlyle at the board once again. The result is a powerful mix of indie-pop-rock songs that move from the delicate to the brash, with thunderous walls of sound juxtaposed by beautiful and rich melodies interwoven throughout.
The Kindness Kind has been featured on SPIN.com, is a CMJ Spotlight artist, toured the West Coast in early 2008, and has shared the stage with bands such as The Rosebuds, Efterklang, The Most Serene Republic, and Darker My Love. The band recently performed live on Seattle's KEXP, and the "The Lusk Letter" was selected as the KEXP Song of the Day for 1/9/09.
Recently, The Kindness Kind played re-opening night of the historic Seattle venue, The Crocodile, and have performed at Seattle's Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival, and the 2009 CMJ Music Marathon.
New album/tour plans are forthcoming.

I met Dr David Hamilton when he was giving a talk many years ago. I was very impressed by him and noticed how kind he was after his talk when we were all sitting down to eat. What a lovely man, he certainly walks his talk.

SUCH a fabulous podcast! Honestly, I have seen the power of kindness in my own life already BUT this episode was for me incredibly inspiring and insightful nonetheless! I hope more and more people will see how powerful of a tool our attitude is, especially in a strange time we're in right now.
Hope you and your family are feeling good and taking advantage of the time spent together!
Dr Rangan Chatterjee
Thanks for your message. Yes, I hope more people will see this too. Please do consider sharing with your network to help the message spread!

A topic ignored under titles like how to be rich, how to look younger, how to be happier. But really this is so important. Thankyou Mr. Chatterjee and Dr. Hamilton. Would love to meet you someday.

This was a really great podcast for me. It crossed over into many areas of my life experiences. I am so grateful for it. Thanks to both of you.

And then I've just noticed all the references. Oh Happy Day this is on 19th December 2020.

Thank you....so lovely π I'm working through a mind/body approach to chronic pain and so much of what you've discussed has been part of my journey. I cried about 10 times through your ymtalk just from the huge warm-fuzzy I felt! Kindness and compassion are the magic medical holy grail we've discounted in our technological mindset. Love your podcasts!π

Two of my favorite people together in conversation! Love it. And I love the synchronicity, I watched the first few minutes yesterday when David is talking about the book 'Expressive writing' by Pennebaker. I was interested so I looked it up and purchased it. Then when I read my book in the evening 'The body keeps the score' by Bessel van der Kolk, he mentioned this very book in one of the chapters. I absolutely love these kind of things. Now I am going to watch the rest of the interview...

Rangan, everyone THIS IS AMAZING --- David says that kindness spreads out like ripples on a pond --- and that we know which neurons are involved. And David says that empathy is 'catching'. You can become more empathic 'The Mother Theresa effect' THANK YOU RANGAN FOR THIS , THANK YOU DAVID. this has changed my life, I now have some very good reasons for being kind -- and, as we know which neurons involved, I feel that we are hard-wired for kindness. We are supposed to be kind, we are made to be kind. Jane, retired scientist, mother, grandmother, and soon to be a much kinder person

This is sooooo great. Love this so much! Rangan, you are changing the face of medicine and I'm so grateful. I've been a proponent of alternative medicine for years...hoping things would come around, and you are leading the way!!
