Daniel Larusso Is Going To Fight!
The Know How Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Heroes come and heroes go
Some you forget and some that change your life
Thinking back to my past
There's always one that seems to last
Not talking about Ferris Bueller, not talking about Johnny 5
Talking about the greatest guy to take on the Cobra Kai
Daniel Larusso's going to fight
He was hurt and now he's alright.
Got a girl and now she's gone
She found a new guy and she did you wrong
Want revenge? Listen how
Corner her and shoot her
Not talking about a small flesh wound
Not talking about your nightstick
Talking about the crane kick into the forehead of this fine chick
Danielson, you need to use the crane
Wo oh oh oh oh we're gonna kick your punk ass!
If I couldn't fight would you still hurt me?
If I couldn't see would you try and cheat me?

If I didn't know, would you deceive me?
If I couldn't fight, would you try to hurt me?

Overall Meaning

The Know How's song "Daniel Larusso Is Going To Fight!" is an homage to the iconic 80s movie, The Karate Kid. The lyrics reference the main character, Daniel Larusso, and his battles against his rivals, the Cobra Kai. The song praises Larusso as the greatest guy to take on the Cobra Kai, and alludes to his signature move, the crane kick. The lyrics also touch on heartbreak, with the mention of a girl who has left the singer for a new guy. The song suggests revenge in a violent manner, with the line "corner her and shoot her," which serves as a reference to another scene in the movie where Larusso uses a hose to spray water into his bullies' faces.

Overall, the lyrics are playful and cheesy in typical 80s fashion, but they successfully capture the spirit of the movie and its protagonist. The song is infused with nostalgia, making it an anthem for those who grew up watching The Karate Kid.

Aw man...I remember seeing this band years ago...I think the last time was VP South on Long Island to a packed place with some other bands that are no longer around. I miss those times and shows.

I really wish they would have done some more marketing and tour a little more. Right after I heard them in Tampa playing with The toasters and a few others, I thought they sounded the best out of everyone. Then they broke up, and it pissed me off. I was really liking their style.
