The Kooks formed at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, where they were all students. Lead singer and rhythm guitarist Luke Pritchard, got bassist Max Rafferty involved in a college project, which formed the base of the band. After getting lead guitarist Hugh Harris and drummer Paul Garred involved, they took their name from the song Kooks on the 1971 David Bowie album Hunky Dory. When they tried to trademark the name, they found that in the late/mid 1990s a Swedish band by the same name released an album in Sweden called Too Much is Not Enough.
The Kooks released a debut EP and played gigs around Brighton, where they were based at the time. They were signed to Virgin Records.
2. Swedish indie rock/alternative band - It consisted of members Henrik Berglund, Leo Dahlin, Michael Lohse and Josef Zackrisson, and was active between 1998 and the early 2000's. Micke Lohse and Henrik Berglund are currently members of the band Atomic Swing.

Would you go along with someone like me?
If you knew my story word for word, had all of my history
Would you go along with someone like me?
I did before and had my share, it didn't lead nowhere
I would go along with someone like you
It doesn't matter what you did, who you were hanging with
And we don't care about the young folks
Talking 'bout the young style
And we don't care about the old folks
Talking 'bout the old style too
And we don't care about our own faults
Talking 'bout our own style
All we care 'bout is talking
Talking baby you and me
Usually when things have gone this far people tend to disappear
No one will surprise me unless you do
I can tell there's something goin' on, hours seems to disappear
Everyone is leaving, I'm still with you
It doesn't matter what we do, where we are going to
We can stick around and see this night through
And we don't care about the young folks
Talking 'bout the young style
And we don't care about the old folks
Talking 'bout the old style too
And we don't care about our own faults
Talking 'bout their own style
All we care 'bout is talking
Talking baby me and you
And we don't care about the young folks
Talking 'bout the young style
And we don't care about the old folks
Talking 'bout the old style too
And we don't care about our own faults
Talking 'bout their own style
All we care 'bout is talking
Talking baby me and you
Usually when things have gone this far people tend to disappear
No one will surprise me unless you do
The Kooks' song "Young Folks" is about two young lovers who don't care about societal norms or the opinions of others. They are not concerned with the generational gap between them or their individual pasts. The lyrics are written in a conversation format where the singer asks the listener questions about their different pasts.
The lines, "If you knew my story word for word, had all of my history
Would you go along with someone like me?" show that the singer is hesitant about revealing their past, but wonders if the listener will still accept them. The chorus, "And we don't care about the young folks
Talking 'bout the young style
And we don't care about the old folks
Talking 'bout the old style too" emphasizes the idea that age and societal expectations don't matter to them as they just want to enjoy each other's company and conversation.
The verse, "Usually when things have gone this far people tend to disappear
No one will surprise me unless you do" hints that the singer is afraid of being left alone and is relieved that the listener is still with them. Overall, the song is a celebration of youth and carefree living, without worrying about the opinions and expectations of others.

LETRA ( EN ESPAÑOL )
Si te dijera cosas que hice antes
Te dije como solia ser
¿Estarías de acuerdo con alguien como yo?
Si supieras mi historia palabra por palabra
Tenía toda mi historia
¿Estarías de acuerdo con alguien como yo?
Y no nos importan los jóvenes
Hablando del estilo joven
Y no nos importan los viejos
Hablando del viejo estilo también
Y no nos importan sus propias faltas
Hablando de nuestro propio estilo
Todo lo que nos importa es hablar
Hablando solo tu y yo
Lo hice antes y tuve mi parte
No condujo a ninguna parte
Yo iria con alguien como tu
No importa lo que hiciste
Con quien estabas pasando el rato
Podríamos quedarnos y ver esta noche a través
Y no nos importan los jóvenes
Hablando del estilo joven
Y no nos importan los viejos
Hablando del viejo estilo también
Y no nos importan sus propias faltas
Hablando de nuestro propio estilo
Todo lo que nos importa es hablar
Hablando solo tu y yo
