Their successful period lasted until 1982. In 1986 Warren would go on to issue a solo LP entitled Burning Questions in. Some of the singles during this era were released as 'The Korgis' and co-produced by Andy Davis.
The band reunited in 1990 to re-record "Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime". The re-formed group, consisting of James Warren, Andy Davis and John Baker, released the album This World's For Everyone in 1992, having some success in Continental Europe and Japan, before breaking up again.
In 2005 Warren, Davis and Baker reunited again for a film shoot for DVD/compilation album Kollection and recorded the fourteen-track album Unplugged, which was released on the Angel Air record label the following year. The group split yet again in 2007.
Their biggest hit was everybody's got to learn sometime, which later was covered from artists like beck, zucchero, erasure, army of lovers, Baby D (who used the title I Need Your Loving) and Krezip. There's also a translated version by Daniël Lohues in a Dutch dialect (Drents).
The band is still active, forming a new lineup in 2017 consisting of previous members James Warren and John Baker, alongside Al Steele (guitar / producing), Paul Smith (drums), Nigel Hart (piano / arranging); and Jay Marshall, Ava Volante and Emmy Rivers (all backing vocalists).
I Just Can't Help It
The Korgis Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Cos I can't believe you make me feel so good
I wouldn't wanna hide the truth from you
Even if I could
Honest I do
And you know I can't help it
Believe me there's no use in fighting now
You only have to speak and I'll give in
My only hope is that some day you'll know
The happiness you bring
The lyrics to The Korgis' song I Just Can't Help It speak to a feeling of vulnerability and helplessness in the face of a powerful emotion. The singer tries to resist their love interest, but ultimately finds themselves unable to do so. They are honest about their feelings, and even though they know that their attraction may not be reciprocated, they cannot help but express their true emotions.
The lyrics suggest that the singer is resigned to their fate, and feels as though their love is out of their control. They acknowledge that they may "give the game away" by revealing their feelings, but they cannot help but be captivated by the person they love. Ultimately, the song speaks to the power of love, even when it is difficult or painful to express.
