Their successful period lasted until 1982. In 1986 Warren would go on to issue a solo LP entitled Burning Questions in. Some of the singles during this era were released as 'The Korgis' and co-produced by Andy Davis.
The band reunited in 1990 to re-record "Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime". The re-formed group, consisting of James Warren, Andy Davis and John Baker, released the album This World's For Everyone in 1992, having some success in Continental Europe and Japan, before breaking up again.
In 2005 Warren, Davis and Baker reunited again for a film shoot for DVD/compilation album Kollection and recorded the fourteen-track album Unplugged, which was released on the Angel Air record label the following year. The group split yet again in 2007.
Their biggest hit was everybody's got to learn sometime, which later was covered from artists like beck, zucchero, erasure, army of lovers, Baby D (who used the title I Need Your Loving) and Krezip. There's also a translated version by Daniël Lohues in a Dutch dialect (Drents).
The band is still active, forming a new lineup in 2017 consisting of previous members James Warren and John Baker, alongside Al Steele (guitar / producing), Paul Smith (drums), Nigel Hart (piano / arranging); and Jay Marshall, Ava Volante and Emmy Rivers (all backing vocalists).

You touched my heart
Got no Red Square connections
We're worlds apart
But if things were different
We could meet by the wall
But foreign relations
Young 'n' Russian
You're so young 'n' Russian
You're all so young 'n' Russian
You're so young 'n' Russian
In the shade of the Kremlin
My allegiance was sealed
I've changed my direction
Now the truth is revealed
The state will protect us
And the world can be ours
But foreign relations
Are oh so hard
Young 'n' Russian
You're so young 'n' Russian
You're all so young 'n' Russian
Oh, you're so young 'n' Russian
You're young 'n' Russian
In your furry hat
You're young 'n' Russian
Oh, baby, that's where it's at
Young 'n' Russian
You're so young 'n' Russian
You're all so young 'n' Russian
You're so young 'n' Russian

The Korgis's song "Young 'N' Russian" tells the story of a Westerner's passion for a Russian woman, despite the geopolitical tensions between their respective countries. The singer is drawn to the allure and romance of Moscow's nightlife, and the woman he meets there captures his heart. However, he acknowledges that they are "worlds apart" and that their relationship is hindered by the "cold" reality of foreign relations.
The singer's perspective is further complicated by his visit to the Kremlin, which represents the seat of power and authority in the Soviet Union. He feels his "allegiance" is "sealed" there, but ultimately decides to change direction and embrace his desire for the Russian woman, even if it means going against the political backdrop of their relationship. The lyrics suggest that the state can provide security and protectiveness, but ultimately the connection between the two individuals is what matters most.
Overall, "Young 'N' Russian" can be interpreted as a story of forbidden love, with the political tensions between the Soviet Union and the West serving as a backdrop to the personal struggles of the singer.

This band are so underrated. I'd never heard of them before watching a TOTP rerun. I watched them down the 100 club last week. Haven't heard any shit songs from them yet. How were they not bigger. Must have been an image thing with Elvis Costello monopolizing the specky nerd look

The Australians must have added the striking match at some point, as we didn't put it on the original! Good to hear that it's still being shown.

David... I bought a cassette version in Australia in 1981 and the striking match was there in the beginning.
Any ideas where I could buy the whole album (on CD) as it stands up after all these years?

Their recordings from 1979-1982 were re-issued as a 2-CD set in late 2016, 'Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime: The Complete Rialto Recordings 1979-1982', on Cherry Red Records, and should still be available online.

It's been nearly 30 years since I watched this video, thanks for posting.

This aired last night on Australian music video program 'rage', as part of their Vault special (dusting off videos that haven't been broadcast in many years), though not in quite as good condition as shown here. It had the sound of the match striking at the start, though, just before the music begins.

Those good ol’ Soviet 80s. That’s where it’s at!
