1. The Lads are a three piece Christian rock band formed in New Zealand in 1993. In early 2005 the band moved to America, and they are currently residing in Nashville, Tennessee. When discussing the move to America many of the previous members were unable to leave prior commitments in New Zealand, and major line-up changes resulted. The current line-up consists of Mark Millard (vocals), Tim Smith (guitars) and Steve King (drums). They have released a total of eight albums in their 15 year history, two of which won Gospel Album of the Year at the NZ Music Awards (Marvel and The Lads). They performed at every Parachute Music Festival from 1993-2005, earning them a cult status among many fans.
2. The Lads were a Bedford, MA indie group. The Lads played a tight skillful new wave oriented sound coupled with power pop influences. Their one and only album is soaked with bright, energetic and effectual melodies that stand up to any of the more popular acts from the early 80's. Out From The Shadows is highly recommended for the collector searching for a satisfying private press entry and desires a getaway from those more commercial offerings of the day.

Higher Love
The Lads Lyrics

You walk in your front door
You're hearing the sounds of war
There's no use to keep the score
So you're walking back out your front door
(CH)
But there's a higher love
Higher love
(V2)
You know that there's no way
No chance, back off, no way
It breaks your heart to stay
So you walk, you don't need this today
(BRIDGE)
I'm too confused
This place is too cruel
Won't someone tell me something true
I'm too confused
This place is too cruel
Won't someone tell me something true
Someone tell me the truth
I'm too confused
Someone tell me
Tell me the truth
I tell you the truth
The Lads's song Higher Love is a powerful and emotionally charged anthem about finding hope and strength amidst the chaos and uncertainties of life. The first verse sets the scene with imagery of war and conflict, likely referring to the struggles and challenges that the singer is facing. The line "There's no use to keep the score" suggests that the situation is beyond resolution, and the only option is to walk away. However, the chorus provides a glimmer of hope with the message that there is a "higher love" that can create a better tomorrow. This higher love may refer to a spiritual connection, a sense of purpose, or simply the love and support of friends and family.
The second verse portrays a sense of desperation and resignation as the singer realizes that there is no easy way out. The line "It breaks your heart to stay" suggests that despite the pain, staying in the current situation may be the only option. However, the chorus once again offers a glimmer of hope by acknowledging the existence of a higher love that can provide the strength and courage needed to face the challenges ahead. The bridge further emphasizes the confusion and despair felt by the singer, but once again calls for someone to provide them with the truth and clarity they need to move forward.
Overall, The Lads's Higher Love is a powerful and emotionally charged song that speaks to the struggles and challenges that we all face in life. It offers a message of hope and strength, reminding us that even in the darkest of times, there is a higher love that can guide us and help us to create a better tomorrow.
