At the end credits here, it says ‘Dedicated to the memory of Jackie Banks’ and I decided to look her up. She was an animation checker, timer and scene planner on The Simpson’s. You know what her first credited episode was? It’s Moaning Lisa. Arguably one of the most touching episodes in the series. That whole episode was about Lisa finding herself. Lisa feels sad for almost the whole episode, and more importantly that Marge’s advice to bottle up her emotions is wrong and Marge changes her tune after seeing what it’s doing to Lisa and tells Lisa to be herself and Marge will support her no matter what. Not only this, but this is the episode when Lisa meets the one and only Bleeding Gums Murphy, and he teaches Lisa how to express herself through the blues. To put all her sorrow and grief and pain and express it through music, turning all those negative feelings into a beautiful melody. Lisa finds her calling at long last. And Jackie’s last credited episode? It’s the first part of Who Shot Mister Burns. The only two-parter ever in Simpson’s history! Really shows off the skill and continuity of the Simpsons team. I will also mention that she worked on the Tom and Jerry movie, the smurfs series, the flintstones series, and many many more. The seasons she worked (from 2-6) are undoubtedly some of the best seasons in the Simpsons history, and she played a key part in them. So, having this episode dedicated to her is really something special, as not only is it a famous episode for its quality and laughs, but it has all the heart that the Simpsons was once famous for - and that sums her work up wonderfully. No wonder one of their best episodes they dedicated to her. Not only are we looking up at the stars for Homer’s mum, but for this fine lady Jackie Banks as well. Thank you, for helping make our childhoods so magical with your work on these wonderful cartoon series.

This is classic Simpsons. Despite it being a biting satire of American society, it is also a heartfelt, loving reflection of people and their lives, despite their faults and shortcomings. Homer may be lazy, fat and stupid, but he is also loving and caring for his family, and moments like this cement the Simpsons as more than a one-dimensional cartoon, but one of the best shows in history.

What I heard Season 1-8 were the best for the Simpson. Season 9 decent, but I heard many people said Season 9 episode 2 started to go downhill I mean got to say and some of episode were originally for Season 8. Season 10 was ehh I mean it was last one I watched.

the show is still sort of amusing and isn’t total garbage, but i consider it a franchise zombie like you do. mediocre and meh isn’t what the simpsons is supposed to be.

@Johnlindsey289 um dude i went back and rewatched seasons 10 & 11, neither were particularly good. i’d say the full seasons end for me at the end of 9, which was a decline in quality but still decent .

i’d then make a few compilation dvds of the best episodes of 10-15 and call it good.

what i remember of seasons 12-15 is that they calmed down on the randomness of 10 & 11, and were genuinely funny without trying too hard. “genuinely funny”, though, won’t hold my interest or attention, and i stopped watching in about 2003.

No it's true, Bojack Horseman is the closet thing to being a modern successor to The Simpsons (as in old school Simpsons 1989 to May 2000's Behind the Laughter) in terms of anti-hollywood satire, bojack is like Krusty, intelligent witty writing, relatable characters, soul, heart and all and Bojack Horseman's writers are fans of classic Simpsons as they knew what made The Simpsons successful in it's glory days before it became Zombie Simpsons (starting with season 12).

But Bojack did ended, i'm glad for that and King of the Hill, Futurama and Regular Show because those shows had good endings too and didn't overstayed their welcome and became rotting shambling husks of their former selves like Zombie Simpsons and Zombie Guy

Ahoyhoy! that instrumental at the end is almost as flawlessly magical as Romantic Flight by John Powell! since it was made by the Simpsons crew, I'd say it is that powerful. until now, I hadn't realized that my favourite television program had an instrumental equal to Romantic Flight, but the shear beauty of the visual of the two d in this as well as the amazing CGI in How to Train your Dragon are just equally flawless!

The only bad seasons in my opinion are season 22 28 and 32. The rest of the modern era is meh.

agree. I don't know why people say the newer simpsons are so bad. They can be emotional too. Mona dies is very emotional and that episodes modern. Go back to reddit if u wanna complain.

Homer Simpson feels an indescribable weight. Homer's mother, Mona Simpson, was a very wise woman.

If she had spent her entire life with her son Homer, by now Homer might have been able to grow up like a straight guy like Lisa Simpson. Of course, that wasn't the case, and Homer grew up like an idiot like his dumb father.

However, even though Homer is stupid, he grows up to be at least a little better father than his father, even though he grew up under that worst father, This is Homer's own accomplishment.

Key difference between the Simpsons and Family Guy, The Simpsons, even in later years KNOW how to do tender moments like this. The inception parody being a good example.
