Lucifer Landed
The Legendary Pink Dots Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
He calls out from the fence, but we just shake a little.
Fall for me.
We fall and make ammends with holy Marys.
I can't look you in the eye, your heel is pressing hard upon my head.
You terrify me truly, petrify me half to death.
You're telling me that you feel mysterious today.
Walk with me, or might I walk with you? What does it take?
I can still remember feeling weightless, feeling free.
I could dance without a hundred fingers pointing,
where the laughs were never mean.
And I know there's something out there.
And I know I'm gonna get there.
Come to me.
Come to me.
You'll offer me your hand.
(?????)
Please offer me your hand.
Don't you be mysterious today.
The Legendary Pink Dots' song "Lucifer Landed" is a haunting and enigmatic piece that hints at themes of temptation, fear, and escape. The lyrics appear to be addressed to a figure who is both alluring and terrifying, perhaps representing some kind of sinister force or temptation. The repeated refrain to "dance for me" and "fall for me" suggest a dangerous seduction, with the singer feeling both attracted and repelled by the figure in question. The line "I can't look you in the eye, your heel is pressing hard upon my head" implies a sense of subjugation or coercion, as if the singer is being forced to submit to the figure's will.
The chorus, with its repeated plea to "come to me" and "offer me your hand," suggests a longing to escape from this dangerous situation and find some kind of refuge or safety. The lines "I know there's something out there / And I know I'm gonna get there" hint at a sense of hope and determination, despite the darkness and fear of the rest of the song.
Overall, the lyrics of "Lucifer Landed" are cryptic and open to interpretation, leaving much to the listener's imagination. However, the haunting melody and evocative imagery make for a powerful and memorable piece of music.
