The Plasma Twins
The Legendary Pink Dots Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Give me plasma! Make it soon! Your love is not enough.
I've got you in my heart, but i want you in my veins.
And I'll meet you at the blood bank. They could pump you into me...
It's only fair because you know I like pumping into you.

Give me plasma, be my plasma doll, my plasma lady fair...
It's nice to know we're always sharing; a love like ours is rare.
Yeah I'll show you all my muscles if you give me your corpuscles...
I'll have your blood, if you'll have my seed.
We'll grow together, the Plasma Twins...

The Plasma Twins... You won't feel a thing...
The Plasma Twins... That's us!

Overall Meaning

The Legendary Pink Dots' song "The Plasma Twins" opens with the singer pleading for blood plasma from someone they love. They affirm that they have this loved one in their heart, but they want them in their veins - almost like they want to merge with them. The singer expresses their desire to meet the loved one at a blood bank where they could exchange their fluids, saying that it's only fair because the loved one knows they like "pumping into" them.

The second verse of the song continues with this theme of exchange and merging. The singer asks the loved one to be their "plasma doll" and "plasma lady fair," and talks about how they like knowing that they're always sharing. They even go so far as to say that they'll show off their muscles in exchange for the loved one's corpuscles (red blood cells). The singer talks about how they'll grow together as "the Plasma Twins," a unified entity that's greater than the sum of its parts. The song ends with a repetition of the phrase "The Plasma Twins," as though celebrating the merging of bodies.

Overall, "The Plasma Twins" is a song that speaks to the intense desire for physical connection and unity between two people. The use of blood and plasma as metaphors for this connection adds an element of intensity and danger to the song, creating a sense of urgency and heightened emotion.

Ahh yes, I remember this song so well. A WMSE radio show used this song as their intro song and the DJs went by the name as The Plasma Twins. Those were the days.

That was Michelle! I lived in Milwaukee from 90'-95' and I listened to 91.7 fm WMSE religiously! Ric Laciak's show was another one that was great as well as KY and The Vulture but Michelle did Plasma Twins on Mondays from 7pm till 9pm.

Yep! B-Side Radio! I still talk to Ric here and there but haven't in awhile. He sent me some of his b-side radio shows on zip drive. Go them on my ipod now but man how I miss listening to those shows and just hit record for hours in my room. I didn't know WMSE had a Industrial Zone show. I remember Q.101 had one by the same name back in the mid/late 90's. I live in Kenosha a half an hour away but unfortunately I can't listen to 91.7 here :( I'll have to check out Tuneln!

'Twas a fan of Rick's B-side radio show as well. I still listen to WMSE for The Industrial Zone via TuneIn as I'm not in Milwaukee anymore either.
