The Times characterized The Lemon Twigs as "a modern-day band combining the melodic, harmony-rich soft rock of Wings and Supertramp, the underground cool of Big Star and the Ramones, and the theatricality of Broadway musicals." The Guardian cited the "humbling beauty of their songs" and their "sumptuous harmonies."
The band was signed to legendary British alternative music label 4AD in 2015. Their debut album, Do Hollywood, was released in October of 2016 to widespread critical acclaim. A number of iconic pop music figures have publicly expressed admiration for the Twigs, among them Elton John, The Zombies, Boy George, Laura Marling, Gilbert O'Sullivan, and Gary Brooker of Procol Harum.

You're so kind and you're so fine
Now that we have spent some time
I find everything I say or do displeases you
And now it's getting so hard because
You don't do me any harm but
I wanna last enough so the end won't hurt me
Maybe you were just not made to be that way
I won't make I won't make you something you are not
The way I'm feeling now I cannot maintain
I don't think, I don't think that it's a bad thought
You're so kind and you're so fine
Now that we have spent some time
I find everything I say or do displeases you
And now it's getting so hard because
You don't do me any harm but
I wanna last enough so the end won't hurt me
I think it's time I finally said
What all along was in my head
It's not fair to anyone
Everyone is trying to love
You shouldn't be lonely with me
In The Lemon Twigs' song "So Fine", the singer is expressing his frustration with the way his relationship has been going. He describes his partner as being kind and fine, but as they spend more time together, he finds that everything he says or does displeases her. Despite the fact that she isn't doing him any harm, he is finding it difficult to maintain the relationship, as he doesn't want to be hurt in the end. He acknowledges that perhaps his partner simply wasn't made to be the way he wants her to be, and he doesn't want to change her. The singer realizes it's time to speak up and admit that the relationship is not fair to anyone, but he doesn't want his partner to be lonely without him.
The lyrics in "So Fine" demonstrate the complexity and difficulty of intimate relationships. The singer seems to genuinely care for his partner, but he also recognizes the importance of honesty and fairness. He doesn't want to hurt his partner, but he also doesn't want to sacrifice his own happiness. The song reflects the struggle of finding a balance between these two competing priorities.
