My mom passed away February 14, 2007. This is the first Christmas I am able to listen to this song. I smiled and got on my knees to thank God for Jesus. 40yrs ago it was a Christmas tradition to sit and wait for this song to come on so one of us could press record. Those were the memories when everyone in the house would seriously try to sing the song as it mark the beginning of the holiday season. It was never about the gifts or the time of year your parents would allow you to taste alcohol. It was only about the pure laughter and joy that everyone knew wouldn't last. This one song emulates the embodiment of the Christmas spirit that's long gone and painstakingly forgotten. 😢

It is an unwritten rule that no one is declared on Christmas, so he was declared on 26 December. We spent hours cleaning and preparing this troop for his last flight home. He sustained a traumatic head wound that made identification damn near impossible if you did not know him and left us with limited facial area to arrange but the daunting task was accomplished.
