Lloyd Mcneill taught at Howard University in Washington D.C. in the 60's. So I was fortunate to see him and his quartet perform the Asha album in a free live show at the campus auditorium (4th row!) on a special Friday evening in 1969. And even though I was just a 'starving student', I sacrificed a meal and bought Asha that week; still have it on vinyl and intend to buy the CD as soon as I finish writing this comment!

When I first heard Lloyd McNeill on WRTI Temple U. Jazz station, I went straight to the record store and bought Treasures. Still have that vinyl, but didn't know about this one. Thank you so much for sharing this rare treasure!

Conheci Lloyd em Recife, nos anos 1970. Pessoa extraordinária, além de sublime artista, ele se tornou amigo da minha família, procurando-nos quando retornou ao Brasil, alguns anos depois, quando estávamos morando no Rio de Janeiro. Tive a honra de estar presente, com meu pai, Gastão de Holanda, no encontro dele com Paulo Moura, na casa de Sérgio Cabral, onde também estavam Martinho da Vila, Eliana Pittman e Leci Brandão. Lloyd e Paulo tocaram juntos, de improviso, ele na flauta e Paulo no sax. Nunca esquecerei essa noite e agradeço à vida por esse privilégio! Fernanda Rosa Borges de Holanda
