duality
The Lounge Kittens Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I push my fingers into my eyes.
It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache.
But it's made of all the things I have to take.
Jesus, it never ends, it works its way inside.
If the pain goes on, I'm not gonna make it!
I've screamed until my veins collapsed.
I've waited as my time's elapsed.
Now all I do is live with so much hate.
I've wished for this, I've bitched for that.
I've left behind this little fact, you cannot kill what you did not create.
I've gotta say what I've gotta say, then I swear I'll go away but I can't promise you'll enjoy the noise!
I guess I'll save the best for last, my future seems like one big past.
You're left with me cause you left me no choice!
I push my fingers into my eyes.
It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache.
But it's made of all the things I have to take.
Jesus, it never ends, it works its way inside.
If the pain goes on, I'm not gonna make it!
All I've got, all I've got, is insane!
All I've got, all I've got, is insane!
All I've got, all I've got, is insane!
All I've got, all I've got, is insane!
All I've got, all I've got, is insane!
I push my fingers into my eye-eye-eye-ooh, It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache.
But it's made of all the things I have to take.
Jesus, it never ends, it works its way inside.

If the pain goes on, I'm not gonna make it!
No I'm not, I'm not, no I'm not gonna make it!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of The Lounge Kittens's song Duality are intense and introspective. The singer talks about a constant pain that keeps haunting them and pushing them towards the edge. They talk about pushing their fingers into their eyes, which is the only thing that can make them feel better momentarily. However, this act is made up of all the things that they have to take, and it never ends. The pain works its way inside and threatens to consume them entirely.

The singer seems to have reached a point where they cannot take it anymore. They have screamed until their veins collapsed and waited as their time elapsed. They now live with so much hate and have wished for things that they did not get. However, they state that you cannot kill what you did not create, implying that the pain and madness within them are an intrinsic part of their being that cannot be erased.

The singer concludes that they have to speak their truth, although they cannot promise that it will be enjoyable. They state that their future seems like one big past, and the listener is left with them because they have no other choice. The song ends just as intensely as it began, with the singer repeating the lines, "I'm not gonna make it!" The song's lyrics give an unapologetic insight into a person's struggles with themselves and the pain they carry.

With Slipknot being my favourite band, I can say that I find this amazing! Not really my thing, but it's still good for a laugh! :)

How to cover a song correctly. Completly change the genre and the singing style. Fucking great

So many closed minded idiots here not understanding the basic principle of what a COVER is. This is awesome and creative and completely original! I love Slipknot and I think this is ace! A really great tribute!

Blew me away @Graspop Metal Meeting this year. Thank you for an amazing performance. You really got the, albeit small, crowd going, everyone was singing along and having an incredibly good time. I hope you return next year.
