And then I followed
The sun was burning like
It'd never come up tomorrow, morrow
And the dirt on your face
Was the ashes
Though I could never
Waiting to catch that lightning
For now we'll wait and see what grows
All we've reaped and all that we've sown
This blood is our own
Raise your head
You've gotta get better
They said you were brave, but
They never said you were clever
Waiting to catch that lightning
For now we'll wait and see what grows
All we've reaped is all that we've known
And now we're buried together
The Love Language's song This Blood Is Our Own talks about the ups and downs of a relationship that is defined by passion, love, and devotion. The song starts with the line "You chased the storm and then I followed" which is symbolic of the thrill and excitement that comes with the early stages of a relationship. The next line, "The sun was burning like it'd never come up tomorrow," describes the intensity of feelings that the couple shared, which seemed to have no end.
The next few lines of the song describe the couple's struggles. Even though they were madly in love with each other, they had their fair share of obstacles to overcome. The dirt on their faces symbolizes the challenges they faced while trying to make their relationship work. However, the line "Waiting to catch that lightning" shows that despite their challenges, they were still hopeful for the future.
The chorus of the song "This blood is our own" is symbolic of the bond that the couple shared. They were willing to put everything on the line for their love, and they knew that no matter what happened, they would stick together. The final line of the song "And now we're buried together" is poignant because it shows that even in death, their love would continue.

Saw them in Albuquerque, opening for Arcade Fire...I swear, if it was anyone less than Arcade Fire following them, I might have just left, these guys put on such a fantastic show.

@FeelTheJon To say the least! I was disappointed at first to find out that although The National (great band) was opening for AF everywhere else on the tour, these guys would be playing instead. However, as soon as they started playing "Pedals"...wow. Chills throughout the concert, and none more than when this song was played! :] They deserve every bit of fame they get.
